Right, got fed up of waiting for Sway to get the thread started (and wanted a bit of post glory myself!), so who has BF4 on pre-order for the PS3?

Apparently each copy of the game for the PS3 will come with a code for a digital download on PS4 for £9.99 and all stats will transfer across platforms, so I can't see any reason not to order it on the PS3.

Mine is ordered with Amazon, so hopefully they'll get it to me on release day.

Am really looking forward to breaking out the 40x scope for the sniper rifles - bullet drop, anyone?!!

On a lighter note, really not sure about getting it on ps3.

Digital download for a tenner sounds good, but would China Rising be included?

Is there a better deal going for it straightaway on ps4 - or a decent bundle?
Good point, it's £40 for the PS3 with China Rising and the official guide, but the press release I read doesn't specifically mention granting access to China Rising on the digital download, so I expect it isn't.

I'll more than likely end up buying the premium package for the PS4 anyway so would get China Rising included in that, so no big deal.

Apparently you need the PS+ subscription to play it on line and I currently use a set of wireless official PS3 headphones, so I may need to fork out to replace them too. frown

Just ordered it right now from Amazon.

Trying to decide whether or not to order a PS4 now too or rock up to a shop and see what deals might be available on release..
PS4 is out end of November (as is BF4), but Sony have told all the retailers that Sony can only promise to deliver the amount of consoles ordered up to 6th August, so any orders after that aren't guaranteed to be honoured on release day.

Could be marketing, but it makes me think it's best to pre-order one now - you can always cancel it before it's sent.

Bloody hell this is getting expensive...

£400 PS4
£40 BF4
+ playstation+
+ Battlefield Premium.

I'll say it again. Bloody hell.
At least it will be staggered - premium won't be out for a couple of months after release, if it's anything like BF3.

Also, HMV are selling 365 days of PS+ for £29.99 at the moment and Sony are offering an additional 90 days free if you register a year's card before 20th September (this Friday), so that will reduce the cost a little.

I just hope the levolution is as good as it looks. Since falling in love with the original red faction I have dreamt of a game with full destruction.

Apart from that it looks pretty crazy.
BF2:BC has total destruction, doesn't it?

Going back to a previous topic - it seems that PS3 headsets will work with the PS4, which is fantastic as I love my current set cloud9 and don't fancy shelling out another £100 on a decent pair (and having to wait for Sony to release them).

Anyone buying bf4 for the PS3?
Pre-ordered it.

Likely to then upgrade it to the PS4 when I get that.
Ditto, for me it's a no brainer. £10 to upgrade to the PS4 version when you want to and all your progress and stats get swapped over to the new console.

The extra month of playing before it's out on the PS4 will give you a massive head start on those who wait for it on the next gen.

Mine was dispatched from Amazon yesterday, so I'm hoping I might get a sneaky 30 mins on it tonight, but wouldn't be suprised if the servers aren't up yet - at least it will give me a chance to install the 4 hour update that is no doubt required!

Really busy with work at the moment, so playing time is going to be much more limited than on BF3. frown

Got a text message a little while ago to say my pre-order of BF4 LE is in at my local Game and ready for pick-up tomorrow woohoo

Only problem is they close at 6pm so I may not be able to get there in time. Right need to come up with a cunning plan to get out of work early.

Oh and anybody know what the LE version gives you over the standard, didn't even realise I'd ordered the LE.
You get the China Rising (first expansion) DLC for free. smile

Matt, have you done anything else since Friday apart from play this game? You've got over 24 hours on it already!!! laugh

Anyway, I've set up a couple of missions for a few of you guys who've been on a lot this weekend - first is most kills in a round (any map, any kit), second is most headshots in a round (any map, any kit).

Both run for 48 hours from now.

Not sure how you access the mission, but if you figure it out, let me know! smile

Edit: Fcensoredck me, I take it back, Matt - SNAFU has 38 hours clocked up!

Just went 37-12 on Zavod CQ so am first of three in the killing machine mission biggrin The thing is that we cant specify which game mode the missions are in so someone couldjust hammer TDM etc.
You can set up your own missions and invite up to 4 friends Matt - you can specify which game modes and how many attempts you get to try to take the record too. Just go into the Missions section.

Oh, right. I only saw a choice of map and attempts. It's a shame we don't we receive notification that we have been invited to a mission. I only knew because you posted on here. Maybe that will be fixed in a patch.

What are everybodies favourite guns and equipment so far? I am really liking the M1014 shotgun and impact grenades.
I've heard there's a glitch with shotguns - that each pellet does the damage of a bullet, so they're glitched (much like the old M26 DART was for a while in BF3)?

I was using the AK12 a lot for a while, but switched to the SCAR-H, which is a lot like the old G3A3.

Haven't touched the LMGs yet.

Using the AC5 as engineer, which is ok for a carbine.

The way suppression seems to work in BF4 is that the entire screen shakes around and your aiming reticule is all over the place.

In my experience at least, it's more effective in BF4 than BF3 as you have no idea what the hell is going on when you're being shot at - it's almost impossible to shoot back.

In BF3 it seemed like the person who shot first won the 1 on 1 most of the time, even if you're first few shots weren't bang on target. Same thing doesn't seem to work in BF4 - seems shots on target have more of an effect.

Don't know what that gun is Guv?
I think it's one of the first recon unlocks but once you get it, you can use it across all classes. Not tried it myself but it's a semi-auto sniper rifle which people seem to be using as an assault rifle with a short range scope. I'm assuming it's high damage and decent at short and medium range as I seem to get killed by that gun more than most.
The RFB is a great gun when equipped with a 4x scope - takes 3 or 4 hits to kill usually, but is very accurate over short to mid ranges.

I didn't realise you could use it with any kit - I'll equip it to help me level up the support class, which seems really weak in BF4?

Don't quote me on the RFB thing but I am pretty sure it's a universal unlock

As for the support class, yes massively agree it's a bit pants. The LMG's are woeful and it seems to take ages to score any real points with that class. I can see me taking a long time to level that one up.
Tiss pants with lmgs....but I have had great success with carbines and C4!!! C4 and claymores are avialable to support and recon.
I've been having fun with the claymores too - although it's quite limited with only one. Should be interesting when I finally unlock the perks that allow you to put down 3 claymores at once - that should stop those run and gun flanking bar stewards in their tracks on Operation locker.

I rarely come across others using them though?

In theory, if your entire team start as support, drop their 3 claymores and then stay as support (but change equipment to something other than claymores) you could have 36 claymores knocking around for the entire game/until someone triggers one!

ETA: Also, weren't we promised 32 player on the PS3/Xbox360? I've only seen 12 so far (+ 2 commanders)?

Apologies, I meant 12 per team, so 24, plus two commanders = 26.

I hear rumours that in the US there were plenty of units left on the shelves for those who hadn't pre-ordered to just rock up to a store and buy one.

Hope all the pre-order hype in the UK proves to be just as false.

Battlefield isn't really Battlefield with the diddy teams on the current-gen consoles. 64 players is where it's at!
Agreed, I think a lot of the maps will be transformed by having 64 players - on the PS3 you can wander around for minutes at a time without coming across anyone on Conquest.

Rush etc will be manic if they up the player count.

I felt much the same about BF3 on the PS3 - Kharg and Firestorm in particular would be great with more players.
