There's a lot of chatter and hype about this at the moment. Bethesda registered Fallout 4 as a trademark a couple of weeks ago and at the same time this website appeared;

http://thesurvivor2299.com/

The website is currently down, but it should be back up. There were two counters on the website. One that counted down to "Nuclear Winter is coming..." which arrived this evening. The second is for another 10 days or so. Along with the counters there have been various Morse code messages and cryptic clues all pointing to Fallout.

I really hope this isn't a hoax a la Halflife 3.

What are you doing man?! F3 is so much more immersive than NV with a much richer storyline. You might not like the older style weapons of F3 after the goodies in NV though. F3 is in bargain buckets all over. Pick up a copy and say goodbye to a month of your life.

Lets hope they fix the random crash/freezes that plague F3 and NV

With PS4 and XBone architecture being much more closely related to PC stuff the port over should be much easier for the developer and glitches will hopefully be a lot fewer.

If that is Fallout 4 on the PS4 coming out in 10 days, I think I am getting a PS4 (well, I'll try to !).
I very much doubt it unfortunately. I'm hoping it's going to be a release date reveal for some point in the first half of 2014, although I imagine Christmas next year is more likely.

Wasn't NV farmed out to someone else to develop by Bethesda? That's why, as much as I want it to be released yesterday, I hope they take their time, get the storylines and atmosphere right bestow it with the awesomeness it deserves.

Graphics on a PS3 are acceptable. I haven't played it on a console for a while. I've been replaying them both a pretty powerful MacBook so graphics are ok for me. The freezing issue is a massive PITA, but the game autosaves everytime you go in/out of a building or fast-travel. Just means resetting the console every other hour of play.

So it turns out that the survivor site was a very elaborate hoax. They went to some effort with that one. Had me convinced. To top it off Peter Hines has stated there will be no Bethesda announcement at the VGX awards either.

Rick-rolling.... Rick-rolling never changes.

Well, might as well put FO4 on the 'never gonna happen shelf', just next to Half Life 3, and another Master & Commander movie.
I wouldn't go that far. Fallout is far too profitable a franchise for them not to continue it. It could, however, be 2015 before it arrives.

I saw this yesterday. After survivor2299.com I'm reluctant to believe it. Think I'll wait for a Bethesda announcement before getting my hopes up.

I know, I know. I shouldn't get my hopes up, but VGX is coming on December 5th and given Bethesda announced Skyrim at this event 4 years ago I live in hope. There are more than a few rumours flying around that this will be where it happens.

A relatively compelling case for a VGA reveal here;

Clicky.

I'm not going to dignify the other thread with a comment, but there is news! Amazing news; Bethesda have confirmed they will be attending E3 for the first time ever!

This could finally be it. Actually it!

That's not funny. I saw this and was so hoping for real news!
This is the biggest piece of real news from Bethesda since, well, Skyrim. They haven't attended any conferences for a long time and they have never been to E3 before. It's gonna have to be big so it doesn't get swamped in all the other releases.

I didn't put this up for clickbait. I am genuinely excited.

I can't see it being another Elder Scrolls just yet. Would they book their first E3 conference and make such a fuss about it for Doom?... I doubt it.

Whenever a Fallout 4 rumour has come up Bethesda have been quick to slap it down. They've said nothing about the huge amount of current speculation all over the internet about F4. It could be they're enjoying the clamour, but can you imagine the disappointment if they turned up, announced Doom and some extra content for TESO then went home. They'd be pilloried and it would be totally smothered by the rest of E3 in the days after.

Hit out hard, not just with a teaser trailer for F4, but lots of footage, details and a release date for Christmas this year and they'll steal everyone's thunder before E3 has even truly begun.

That's the worst clickbait I've seen since "You won't believe what she did next!!1!" videos appeared on Facebook.

I'm a strange mixture of relieved and excited. I can't watch the video just now, but from the stills I've seen it looks pretty enough. I'm hoping it has a 2015 release date although I expect that will be announced at E3.

Either way, thank fk it's finally confirmed.

Doesn't look to be a "middle" version at present. It's the standard version for £43 or the Pip-Boy edition for £99. I've gone for the Pip-Boy simply because this is the gaming event of my life.

From what I've read there's no extra in-game content for the expensive version though.

I'm a keen gamer who has never played Fallout.

Can somebody explain it to e in a nutshell?

Is it worth buying the game if you have not played the previous versions?
I remember buying a Fallout 3 GOTY edition on a whim when it was on sale in Tesco. Probably £20. I didn't really know much about it, but the cover looked OK and the game description looked like I might enjoy it. Little did I know I had stumbled upon the greatest game ever. I installed it on my PS3 and ended up playing it relentlessly.

The basic story is that of survival in a post apocalyptic wasteland, but it's the freedom you have that inspires. Yes, the main storyline is pretty linear, but you can play that at any pace you like, or even not at all. You can play it any way you like too. A benevolent peacekeeper, or a devil who will nuke the st out of everything and everyone, even complete towns. There is so much to explore and so many ways to to explore it. I'm literally hundreds of hours in both F3 and NV and I still find new stuff all the time.

It's the first game where I felt like I could play it anyway I wanted. Most games only offer the illusion of choice and ultimately it makes no difference what you do, you end up in the same place with one or two scripted outcomes. To say I'm excited for Fallout 4 is an understatement. I'm like a dog with two dicks and a belly full of piss.

My Zelda Triforce Heroes preorder has not arrived today, release day. It doesn't fill me with much hope for getting my Pipboy Edition on launch day. I called GAME to try to upgrade delivery for F4 to Special Delivery before 9:30am. After a 30 minute wait the lad said I cannot upgrade my delivery at all, but it's OK because it will probably arrive on launch day anyway. I explained that I'm still waiting for Zelda to drop though my door today and he said it's very unusual for them not to arrive so it must be Royal Mail's fault.

I don't care whose fault it is. If F4 doesn't arrive on launch day I'll be taking a st in the packing box and sending it back to them, minus the game of course.
