Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Discussion
Very, very early days yet - Kotaku are predicting we'll see this no earlier than 2016 at the earliest - but Square Enix today released the first trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, set 2 years after the events of Deux Ex: Human Revolution.

This looks very nice though, hopefully the in-game visuals will be similar to the rendered footage.
On a high-end spec PC perhaps. Not sure about the consoles. I just hope that they don't do the usual thing of coding down to the lowest common denominator. If I'm stupid enough to spend more on a graphics card for my PC than it costs to buy a console, then I want the damn thing getting a workout thankyouverymuch.
First glimpse of gameplay from E3.
Just take my money, goddamit!

I didn't finish HR (got stuck with stealth build in over-powered boss situation) so I think I'll re-play that and wait for this to come in on Christmas sale.
Grab the Director's Cut of Human Revolution for your replay - it doesn't cost much now - because those boss situations have been altered to give a stealth alternative. Be warned, though, Human Revolution looks *very* dated now.

So it's essentially pre-order benefit for DLC.
Indeed. You are pre-buying all DLCs in the expectation that a) you are going to buy them all anyway, and b) that the Season Pass will work out cheaper. Mr Whippy said:
Is the DLC needed for the single player then? Ie, extra mini campaigns and missions etc? Or is it multiplayer stuff?
I don't know what is planned. Human Revolution only had one DLC, which was an extra single player storyline (and it was well worth having too, and for the Director's Cut is integrated into the main game). In Fallout4, as with Skyrim, there is a mix of pointless settlement / crafting add-ons, and decent extra story quests.
You pay your money and take your choice.

Saw earlier a respected CSGO technical guru had it running on his system with a 12 thread i7 and a new GTX1070 and was struggling to run it at decent frames above 1440p.
Well that's a bit concerning as I only have a 4-core i7-3770K and a GTX 980, and I run a 3440x1440 screen. I still haven't bought it yet. Anyone know any good discounts on the PC version, short of the aforementioned risky-sounding eBay purchase?
I finally bought it yesterday, as it was in the Steam Sale for 67% off and I picked it up for £13-odd.
I'm only just on the first mission and am finding it rather "samey" to be be honest. It doesn't really feel like it has moved things on from Human Revolution all that much, particularly in the graphics. I mean, I can see that they are more detailed and of higher resolution than Human Revolution yet at the same time they're managing to feel dated. Maybe it's partly to do with having just come from playing Dishonored 2 extensively.
I must say that it is quite refreshing to find that Adam has some of his augs from the previous game all enabled, though, rather than some kind of plot device having disabled / removed them.
Also, why are there dead and decaying bodies from the events of Human Revolution 2 years previously lying around? Did none of them have friends or family that wanted to give them a decent burial?

First mission (Dubai) is set up as a tutorial with all augs activated; as soon as you move onto the next chapter things change.
Well, st; that rather puts me off, to be honest. Having just done two straight play-throughs of Dishonored 2 I am so done with skills trees for now. Maybe I will go play "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" which I also picked up in a Steam Sale today, and come back to Mankind Divided later. I ended up doing 3 playthroughs of this in the end.
First was a mostly non-lethal play though, the second was a Game+ where I explored pretty much everything it was possible to do, completely maxed out every augmentation, spent ages using Smart Vision and Icarus Jump to get into every single place I could and unlocked every terminal and lock-up that I found. Incidentally, does anyone else see rather a big similarity between 'Icarus Jump' and Dishonored's 'Blink'?
My final playthough was "Adam Jensen - Mass Murderer" where he kills absolutely everyone it is possible to kill. Walking into a crowded club and setting off Typhoon, for example. I think the record was 8 kills in one Typhoon discharge. The streets of Prague got pretty empty and lonely when there was nothing moving and the streets were littered with corpses. Pity TF29 was a no chaos zone (ie. weapons unavailable) as I'm sure Adam would have liked to have permanently wiped Delara's smug half-smile off her face.
You were right - Prague looked far more pretty. And the plot device for resetting all augmentations back to factory default, similar in concept to what they did in The Missing Link, was fair enough.

Have you played the DLCs? There are 2 additional missions; first one is quite brief but the second one is a lot longer and re-introduces Prichard from Human Revolution. Both are decent, but you're left feeling as if they belonged in the original release of the game, which is a bit galling when the main title felt so short in the first place.
I've played "Desperate Measures" where you infiltrate Tarvos Security, as it was included in my purchase of the game, but it looks like "System Rift" is an extra £9.49 right now so I think I will wait for it to come up in a Steam sale. I agree that "Desperate Measures" would fit far better into the main game than standalone as it doesn't really work on its own, especially with Jensen's augmentations, and would be far better integrated into the main story. Perhaps they will do that in a future Director's Cut version like they did with Human Revolution.
