Need for Speed (2015)
Discussion
Only did a quick search but this came up on my facestalk news thingy.

I can't help but be excited, if it's anything like NFS Underground 2 then it's going to be the first came in a year I want to play. There is another trailer due out on the 15th June which I'm guessing will be longer and then E3 will have an announcement!
Anyone else miss the "old" NFS' from Underground to Most Wanted?

Here's the latest trailer, getting more and more excited for this. Can't wait for the car list, hopefully a good mix of different traditional nfs groups. Also would really like some more cars from the Japanese markets, like RX-7's, Eclipses, older Skylines. Really don't want another Porsche/BMW fest that has shoved in the latest few games like a boil on one's face.

Above is a gameplay trailer, looks like customization will be more in depth but maybe slightly harder to find what you want in terms of wheels etc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNiLJnYs6Vw
second is gamescom trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJIXQefMU8E
final one though is much more informative and focuses on the game modes, you can also see alot more cars that they are putting in and the tuning which looks great imo

Of the newer ones I did like Hot Pursuit on PS3, shame about the lack of modification but the game was very good.
Including all of them I really loved the customisation in Carbon, the cars & music from Underground and the Open world from Underground 2.
Fingers crossed they manage to blend all of that and it'll be my favourite game of all time

Reports are the cars are all unlocked at the start and you just have to have enough money. What did you see in the beta? There is a guy on youtube who does regular videos, but his voice makes me want to hunt him down and beat him with a spade so I haven't watched many.
Only a few weeks now for this, cannot wait myself.

I'm liking the car list if it is close to this (source http://nfs.wikia.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed_(2015) )
A decent representation across the board of car's to suite everyone's taste, I'll be going JDM first and mix it up with some Muscle Although it's a shame Dodge, Chevy, Honda & Toyota aren't better represented, missing Integra's, Older Camaro's, Dodge's, Supra's, Starlet's, 350Z's.

I think the best thing about the game is that it really gives you Choice. ~snip~ So it's not a case of 'can you afford the best car' but to make the car you want, which is really important to me at the very least.
I think I will be picking this up. It's not a perfect game by any means, but for those that liked the 'Golden Age' of Need for Speed, from Underground 1 to Carbon, I think this will be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Wow thank you for that, hopefully they might do something with the handling before release. I'm really excited for the bit I've bolded, I always wanted to take my Civic (U1) or 240SX (U2) all the way in the old games but you were forced into the higher tier of cars if you didn't want a total struggle. Interesting views on the handling a friend who also got to try the beta has said that the handling is classic NFS but now you can set it up how you want. They went all out with a drift setup as the grip setup was just too sim like (you actually had to brake for corners )

I am very excited for this now, looks to be much better than the last set of attempts by EA. Also it's been a very long time since I've hear Gangsta's Paradise

The elastic-band opponents were a main feature of the old Undergrounds - shame they've brought that 'feature' into the game, I recall more than a few controller-throws while playing the old games due to that
Nevertheless, it's the racing game I've been waiting for. I don't do sims, as much as I see their appeal it's all a bit too competitive and serious for me and I think they're wasted without a wheel setup.
I really wanted Forza Horizon too after playing the first one to be honest, but I can't justify buying another console for that one game.
I have to admit I'd never noticed the elastic-band AI until I got Rivals, then it was stupid as they'd come steaming up to you near the finish, I used to adjust my racing to get them to come up close mid race so I had time to get a good gap near the end. I've got Horizon 2 on a pre-owned 360 and while it's the most complete open world racer so far, I can't help but get annoyed as the AI in that too... especially the constant ruining of clean streaks by just turning into you. Also "DLC only Xbone" - ps off Turn10

Why not? It's not like this is a fan-made game built on a shoestring budget, it's released by the faceless monster of EA. This should have been better than Forza Horizon.
I guess for me that's going to be the cause of any defects in this NFS, EA are spread too thin and desperately trying to shoehore that stupid engine into all it's games.* Ghost Games on the other hand haven't and other than NFS: Hot Pursuit and Burnout: Paradise have a terrible record of making racing games (wiki states 80% of staff are from Criterion). Turn 10 only do Forza, they live and breath it from dawn until dusk, frankly if any of the Forza's were even slightly less than amazing I'd be worried.
- From the comments it sounds like the Xbone version hasn't enjoyed it's application in a racer over a FPS.

Ultimately EA only want to make money from this, and suspect it's more profitable to make a meh game with a well known brand name and invest heavily in marketing, than it is to put the time/effort (money) to make a great game...
100% agree with you there! Only a handful left that want to make a good game before release. Though I did like the guys doing Prey 2, they cancelled it saying "we're not happy that current system capabilities can cope with our vision" or something similar. I guess the cynic could say that's all part of the marketing plan too! Mine was dispatched last night so hoping it arrives tomorrow morning Interesting on the 5 car limit, the previous referenced friend said that you can tune the handling to be "grip" or "slip" and not much in between, seems like a good excuse to have your grip cars and your slip cars for different events
