So I'm looking to get back into PC gaming. Mainly thanks to the new incarnation of Elite which I've played and enjoyed but is caning my current PC even on lowest settings.

I'm looking at a budget of max £1000 just for the box. Had been looking at trying to get something with a 4gb Gtx 970 card in it but I have seen that equivalent specced machines with a R9 290x in it for less money. Does anyone on here use the R9? Is it any good? I'm also going to be playing GTAV and looking for something that might be able to play the new Battlefront when that's released.

Looks like 970 is the way forward. Been offered an i5 rig, recently built up including a 970 for £850 which seems fair.

Anyone got any opinions about this that I've just seen:

Keen price, I understand the PSU could be beefier, but I've got no real desire to go down the route of sli. Just want a half decent box like that runs Elite Dangerous nicely and will also handle GTA V
