Best PC games of the least three years

So I've just upgraded my 8 year old dell PC to something rather nice- i5, 16gb RAM, NVME and SSD boot discs, Crossfire, Freesync 28" monitor etc etc

I sued to play low res at 1440 4:3, but now run max res at almost 4k

Very very quick- but silent! I'm very very pleased.

BUT all the games I have are things that would run on a low spec 2-3 years ago. The most up to date game I've bought is Mass Effect 3, CS:GO and world of tanks.

What have I missed that were ground breaking/amazing. I am/was a massive half life fan- prefer thinking games rather than things reliant on hand speed (I was rubbish at quake!). nt so keen on sandbox games either- I like storylines!

didn't finish the original XCom gamne unfortuantely- just found it very very repetitive, and didn't really care about the characters (that sounds really odd in connnection with PC games)
