Im staying in Windermere, travelling up friday from portsmouth area
Nice The weather up here is nice at the moment, the temperature has took a winter plunge over the last week, it's chilly but dry and sunny, hope it stays that way for you.
If you are in Windermere and are wondering where to go for a bite to eat one day, have a drive along the lake to Newby Bridge at the bottom and try The Swan: http://www.swanhotel.com/
A nice little gents shop to look in is Morse Point in Bowness on Windermere. Boss, Armani, suits, shoes etc and often has some cracking items on sale.
Also worth a look just for the coffee and amazing cakes is Chesters by the River: http://www.chestersbytheriver.co.uk/
You might even fit in a Lake District walk as well!
ETA: There are a couple of places in Bowness by the Marina that hire electric boats as well! They can hold up to about 7-8 people and are great fun Me and my mates often hire them for a laugh in the summer. It's a fantastic way of seeing the Lake at your own speed and without much effort... good photo opportunities from the boat as well.
