I have ditched my RX100 and a whole swathe of Canon APS-C lenses (just left with a 70D + portrait lens) so I can move to a lighter system for holidays and regular use. Quite tempted to get an EOS-M and 22mm pancake because it's cheap enough (£300) - appreciate the focusing isn't as fast as with newer DSLRs - but any reason why this would be a bad choice, primarily as I do like low-light capability which is a weak point of most compacts. Also does anyone have an EOS-M2 (and where did you buy it?)

That is incredible, especially with all the EOS lenses you can get on ebay.
Is there anything comparable?
Not new. Though I think DigitalRev do a good price on the 22mm kit (which costs a fair bit more than a 18-55). Is there anything comparable?
I got someone's holiday wishlist (EOS-M + 22mm + Canon wrist-strap + Lowepro case) for £250. Have a feeling the M3 will arrive later this year hence the price falls. In which case they'll be some eBay bargains to be had.

out-guns my G15 (surely the G series has had its day?)
It's a bit bulky as pocket camera and the viewfinder was not a deal-breaker for me at least - hence the M.On the subject of pocket-sized, I was wondering whether to put a filter on my 22 and do away with the lens cap. Not a huge issue but if it makes it easier to get in and out of the case ..
P.S. With regards to the deluge of EOS-M deals and the timing of thread - don't work for Canon (if I did I'd have got an M2!) I needed a travel camera for upcoming holiday and hurt my knee.

If anyone's interested - the Lowepro Dashpoint 20 is a perfect fit for the M with the 20mm lens attached.
Yep bought mine with a Dashpoint 20. Just ordered a Hoya UV filter to replace the lens cap to make it easier to take out and use. The Canon wrist strap sticks out between the double zips.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
