Morning,

I dropped my 70-200 at the weekend, onto a tiled floor. The only damage seems to be a slightly bent collar which means it will not connect to the camera any more. There are no other obvious signs of damage.

I was going to send it to repair and a recalibration as I suspect there must be other damage. There are a lot of canon repair centres I wondered if they were all much of a muchness? For some reason Fixation are in my head so I thought I'd sent it there. Any other suggestions?

I'll get a builder to replace the tile wink

Cheers

Send it direct to the Canon Service Center at Boreham Wood. Ive had excellent service from them in the past.
I've used them before but cannot find any details now. All the canon service stuff seems to be done by 3rd parties now, Colchester camera centre are the nearest but as I'll be posting it I thought I'd use fixation as I seem to recall hearing good things about them.

Are you part of Canon CPS? I've got Gold membership and have used it before.

Why would a bent collar stop the camera connecting to the lens? Do you mean the lens mount? Sorry if I am being daft, but I can't see a collar stopping a lens attaching.
Yes I did mean lens mount, sorry. No not a member of CPS.

Thanks folks, I sent off an email to several of them. Colchester were the first to get back to me and will fix it for £55 plus vat (which is also cheaper than the other quote). 10 day turnaround which is fine and they'll let me know if I have completely knackered it.

As for the tile..

Cheers
