I was thinking of making a (small) blurb book to display all the photos from the first half a million miles. This I could make available to all that have contributed via a link here. The book would cost the same to you as it would to me, so I would make nothing from the sales. I would not make the book 'public' - for general sale on Blurb, people would have to be on this thread to find the link. I'll stress that this would cost the same to all of us.

Obviously, I don't 'own' any of these photos, so if anyone has any objection, I could remove their photo from the book... though the fact that you have sent me it and it's on my website would kind of make that a bit daft... still, I thought it important to ask. It's going to be impossible for me to contact everyone who has contributed and ask their permission personally... but I thought I'd float the idea here, see what the vibe was.

Would anyone be interested in this?

Each page would follow this format (res is just good enough)

FYI - Here's where it started (8 and a half years ago) > yikeshttp://www.stevecarter.com/transported/ted1.htm

ETA... I'll make it an E Book too, for those too tight to buy paper smile

Emma Chizzit?

In the example above I think the caption area could be condensed. And a map with dots and numbers on it linking each photo to its location would be very nice smile
Res of photos limits size... and maps and dots sounds like work!

I've put one together, I'll order it and see what it looks like. (You'll be able to review the entire book online before you buy)

If you can find me a nice copyright free world map I'll put the dots on for you. Gotta have a map! Double page spread, oh yes.
'ere ya go. I'll add the credit needed to make it free

If you need one with political borders, they do that as well

I think a political one would be better. Otherwise it's just a load of forests and sand spin

Sorry I couldn't help John.

Going to press (a test) tomorrow morning. If you want a map with dots, I'll need it by then.

Sorry, without a set of coordinates or something I can't do all that by tomorrow. It's a pity because it seems such an obvious way to present all the data in one hit, and join all the pages/photos together. Why the hurry to print? Plenty of time before Christmas smile
I can't provide coordinates John, I'm just making a book of photos. If you'd like to provide a map with dots, please do and I'll include in the final print. I'm just printing a test tomorrow to see how good the contributor's resolutions work/look on paper. It can all be changed before others order.

I'm up for that. Book for me (although the PDF would also be handy smile ).

Not a problem printing any that I have contributed.

I should also be able to provide the original hi-res images if required. Although it may take be a few hours to locate them
Ta for that... don't worry, 90% will be screen res, so they might as well all be.

So how do we order the book?
I've ordered one to check the quality of the photos - once I've seen it's okay, I'll post a link here and you can buy directly from Blurb. Takes about 10 days to arrive.

Okay folks... It looks fine on paper. Quite surprised considering almost all were screen res pics.

http://blur.by/1uXCTI9

It defaults to hardcover so check softcover if that's what you want.

I usually buy Blub when they have a decent offer running (they have got quite expensive over the past year). I generally buy when I can get 30% off

There are current offer codes here - not sure which ones will work: http://couponfollow.com/site/blurb.com

There is no map with dots in this copy!

As mentioned above, a free pdf here if you dont want paper: http://stevecarter.com/random/TheTravelsofTranspor...

There are codes out there that will work... not sure what the current ones are. I only buy multiple books when I get 30% off, cos once postage is added, they are pretty pricey. (As I sell them they count as 'stock', so it's not so bad).

Blurb are MUCH more expensive these days - but still cheaper than photobox ec.

O/T At least there is no VAT to be added when I sell any more (photo books became VAT exempt last year)
