£500 Camera body upgrade

So a little background. I own a D3100 that I bought second hand to learn about photography. It was a great deal as I didn't want to spend hundreds and then find I didn't have the interest after a month or two. Now 2 years on Id like to upgrade, I shoot pretty much 100% with a AF-S 55-200mm f/4-5.6G.
With an upcoming trip I'd like to invest in a new camera body but just not sure what I could get for the money. Any advice? I shoot mainly landscapes and day to day portrait shots. Very rarely do I shoot fast action shots. I'd also like to get into more astro photography in the future.

I wanted to upgrade as its simple starting to show its age. Plus one or 2 of the buttons have become a bit temperamental. It was well used by the previous owner which is why I got such a good deal on it.
I did have a fast prime before, a 35mm F1.8 but I like to frame my shots with the zoom rather then moving the camera. Lazy I know but its how I like to shoot.
Will the DX lens limit a full frame camera photos? I know that may be a stupid question but wasn't sure if you need full frame lenses?
How much are you looking for one the recently serviced D7000?
