We're going to renovate and extend our house, and I've love to take a photo diary but all my lenses are portrait/landscape lenses and nothing in between. The house is only 6M x 7m floorspace so not huge and I struggle to take a picture of a room with any of the lenses.

I have a 450D and would like a cheap lens I can use for taking half decent pictures of the house in progress. Nothing very expensive or fancy, just something that can capture most things in one shot.

Any suggestions?

The Canon is a good shout - the Sigma looks LOVELY (and comes up on eBay at £150ish) but I reserve my "Sigma money" for lenses I really want to do something special with - this is arguably just a basic point and click lense for me.

Thanks for all the advice, bagged myself a perfect condition Sigma on eBay for £150. Loving it, does exactly what I need it to do - take pictures of a small house in renovation chaos!

It's great, well worth it as it can capture the whole downstairs in one shot. Been really helpful in documenting it fully and seeing the changes.

I love it for landscapes too - definitely my new toy.
