Having recently traded in my Canon DSLR gear I continue to look for a suitable replacement.

Having spent hours making a nuisance of myself at my local camera specialist - I was steered away from bridge camera's and I knew I didn't want another DSLR (although the new Canon 760D looked great) I really like the micro 4/3's system from Olympus.

I'm looking at the Zuiko 14-42mm "pancake", the Zuiko 75-300mm tele and maybe the Zuiko 60mm macro.

Handling both camera's the 5 mk2 is a little heavier and I'm wondering if the lack of a built in flash maybe a hassle (although the included flash with the 5 is a tiny little tilt and rotate jobbie).

The shutter on the 5 was lovely - it felt smoother and was almost silent.
The 5-axis stability program will be useful for cars, aircraft and macro type stuff. Plus it has a better movie system. Plus the ability to create 40MP foto's.

But then the 10 is still a great camera with similar features. Not as silent, lesser quality movie ability and no 40MP mode.

But more importantly is - as a package with the lenses above - EUR600 cheaper than the 5 mk2.

Do any of you here have "real world experience" of either camera that can advise - the more Imread the more indecisive I get !

Cheers

I have an EM-5 and am really pleased with it because of ease of use, image quality and light-weight. I use it for travelling and it has had some hard use. The range of lenses is impressive and not too expensive. I like the tiltable view screen and that it is water/dust resistant (to a point). On the EM5 the view finder is OK for composing but not for focussing. The EM-1 is better. An overview of the use of these cameras is on Flickr - here. Ultimately it depends on which feel best in your hands and on your wallet!
Thanks for the link - some lovely pictures there, but doesn't make my choice any easier smile

Honestly I think I'll probably go for the 5 mk2 whilst I can as I would hate to buy the 10 and then regret it

hdew have some great prices on the olympus OMD cameras. Might make the decision for a 5 ii easier to swallow?
Thanks for that - however I am based in the Netherlands and with the unfavourable (for me) EUR-GBP exchange rate - I'll get something here.

It's not only the cost of the thing - is the 5 mk2 a considerably better / more advanced camera ?
