Hello All,

I've finally decided that I've outgrown my 550D and it's time to upgrade to something that will last me for another ten years. And with which I can use my lenses. I also want to go full frame so I've settled on an R8.

So, the question is where to buy it.

I am loath to let Amazon have that amount of money and experience tells me I will face a nightmare if anything goes wrong.

Canon themselves are an option (but not for the adaptor ring, and also not for anything below MSRP).

Previously, I would have ordered it through Jessops, but they have shut all their local branches, it seems. See above, I guess.

Can anyone recommend a good independent retailer in the East Midlands? I'd prefer to buy online, but would like to know they've got a physical presence, too, in case anything doesn't work.

Cheers!

Have a look at Harrison Cameras in Sheffield. They will part ex your old camera gear for new or used.
My recommendation too.
Thanks, everyone. They look to be the cheapest too.

Seems that there's a trade-in offer on the go too - ends 13th. Better get my skates on. Time to see if I can find the 550's box all this time later. I think there's a lesson there...

Well, to round this off, I collected it from Harrison's this morning. Really nice people to work with - they sorted out my trade in and Canon's further trade-in offer without hassle. And it feels good for someone other than Amazon to take the associated profit.

I feel a trip to the hills is in the offing...
