Clutch change for my S3 soon. Can someone please point me towards a new gearbox mount?

Thanks

Thanks Mike. I'll probably go for the more expensive one, as I don't expect to ever change it again!!

Mike (Philpott), my gearbox mount has just arrived, and to be honest, I am slightly surprised. I went for the 70 shore item, which I assumed would be like firm rubber but when they described it as "having slightly more give than wood" they weren't joking! It is rigid!!

Is the mount that you have bought the same?

I bought the harder mount but didn't fit it in the end, as wasn't a direct swap.

Let me know if you are interested as it is gathering dust in my garage.

when the engine and gearbox were removed (to do the clutch), the gearbox mount looked ok, but the engine mounts were changed. This cured the bouncing gearstick problem, Happy days!

Like you, if it had been a straight swap, it would have gone in.

Hi Mike,

I used Heavy Duty mounts. Can't remember where I got them from, but I do remember that Glenrobbo used the same items.

Glenrobbo????????????????

Bit of a mine field this topic. Lots of past discussion on the topic of Clutches. I believe you are correct that the clutch can be a capri clutch, though mine was fitted with a Granada clutch, which despite my initial concern (having read some past discussion), seems to be ok.

Adrian Venn advises that 'some' Granada clutches may work initially, then start to slip after a few thousand miles.

I guess the important thing is to make some comparison measurements between the old, and the new item!

Fro memory, it was something to do with the studs on the flywheel!!??

I can only suggest you phone Adrian Venn (Exactly TVR). He is very helpful.

Good luck.
