MOT pass advisories

My S3 passed its MOT today, with a couple of advisories and comments:
Servo pipe cracked - easy to replace, does anyone know whether its 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch? The tester also commented that there didn't seem to be much servo effect - it might be there's a leak on the pipe, if not is there a way of testing a servo?
Play in steering rack inner joints - not an MOT fail because they are hidden, the tester also commented that replacing them might not make any significant difference - is this anyone else's experience?

Thanks for the feedback, will try the servo test over the weekend and put the steering rack down as a 'next winter' project
