Sure is, standard issue with V6 S series.

If you look close you may just make out the packing piece for the quick shift.

Close up, save you squinting smile

A far more "positive" feel and reverse easier to find!

Cost = a new gasket
a new tailshaft oil seal
a tin of Quality Street for the guy who did the welding smile

...... and a day on my back struggling the box out and back in (I'm getting too old for this hehe )

ETA .... a a tenner for a gearstick off Ebay

whats the plate welded on the side for?
Just a bit of strengthening, guy who did the welding said that would be better than trying to weld down where the two "circles" meet if you know what I mean?
Not very pretty but who's going to see it!

To help me understand would you mind posting a bit more detail?
Originally got the idea when I bought a car mag to read on the plane, going on holiday somewhere or other, there was an article on fitting the type 9 to a Spitfire (I think it was) and the company doing them were shortening the tail housing rather than the TVR cranked gear lever idea.

Bit more research and I found this article

Have a spare box so was able to get a tail housing and selector rod ready before pulling my box (and if it all went t*ts up I'd still have my gearbox in the car untouched)!

Think we've had a repeat or two here but to bring this debacle to a conclusion.... there is a G clamp holding the bell housing to the Workmate in photo 2.

Now can we get back to my wonderous piece of engineering skill biggrin
