Following on from my thread before the S-Club Tour here is the solution I used instead of trying to find the long since defunct Sierra item.

This is a mk1 Land Rover Freelander item;

I first thought to mount it the 'right' way up so trimmed the top off to lower it's height;

Although it fitted very well, it bunched at the front so selecting reverse, 1, 3 and 5 was hard. Fitting the leather gaiter over would just make things worse;

Then, while looking at the linkage, I thought, fit it upside down;

Fits and works brilliantly. Then, I thought the linkage could pass through the side of the gaiter so it would be less bunched;

I chose that crease at random but the one above [in the photo] would be better.

Fitted fine;

The hole at the now bottom? I glued in an offcut of old inner tube;

The bottom lip of gaiter fits almost perfect around the opening. Didn't fancy pop riveting it in place so double sided tape and some duct tape worked a treat;

In practice, works a treat. There's a small amount air coming in the hole where the linkage passes through but a neater cut hole would reduce this. It's still a huge improvement over a split Sierra item.

The gaiters can be had on ebay for around a tenner.

I passed the second one I bought to Joe - V8S4me - to see if my fix could be applied to a V8 S.
