Smash Bang Wallop

Spent last night at the OHs and enjoyed a nice coffee before heading in to the office this morning.
Driving along the road and is that mrzigaziga in his Wedge 200m ahead? It is how nice. Oh that van looks like they want to pull out of that junction. Eye contact made, good they've seen me. Wait, they're pulling out. Screeeech. Bang.
Teach me to enjoy a morning coffee.
To clarify things. I rear ended a transit van as it pulled out in front of me today. Other than tweaking my knee injury from last weeks mountain bike off, no injuries. Unfortunately, Samy has not been so lucky.
Radiator has sprung a leak.
S4 bonnet has front damage, hinge damage and lock damage. It maybe be fixable I will look over the weekend after I've caught up with the work I've missed today and done my 'chores'.
What is for sure, Samy won't be going to Snetterton on the 22nd.
The other b'ache is Tamy's due her MOT on the 17th and I know she won't pass. So looks like a trip to Str8six for a walletectomy to deal with the things.
I'll take some pics tomorrow.
Being positive, it does give the opportunity to do a 'wide open' conversion.
At this time I don't know what to do. I'm loathed to report it to my insurer as I don't want to write Samy off - which could well be possibility.
I feel like punching a dolphin.

Going to the sausage meet tomorrow morning so will have a look after that.
Spoke to Elmwood TVR this afternoon about getting Tamy MOT'd and prepped for Snetterton. I'm dropping her off on Tuesday.
I'm going to sit on it over the weekend and contact the owners on Monday.
So I've got a load of jobs to do on Tamy tomorrow and then in the office Sunday.

I struck the passenger side rear quater. Skid marks start at one side of the [side] junction and finish the other side of it when the impact occured.
Luckily I had been covering the brake as there was a break in the traffic on their side and I had half anticipated they might do something stupid. Clearly I should have been more pessimistic. Could have been alot more damage - although I would have struck the in the side rather than the rear quarter if I hadn't got some braking done.

Was a good meet this morning. Certainly raised my spirits.
Annoyingly, I suspect I would have been in a stronger position (insurance wise) if I hadn't braked. However, a lot more damage would have been done.
Had a poke around this morning and it looks like the clamshell, mounts and radiator are the 'only' damage.
magpies, if you could send me some photos of the 'wide open' mod via pm it would be very gratefully received.

Evening,
Quick up date. Police informed of the no insurance via new 101 number. Will wait and see what action is taken.
Moving on to Samy;
Initially, I was speaking with a 'claims manager' from my legal cover team who said that due to the age of the car it would be automatically written off. I did query this but they were adamant.
Once it was discovered that there was no insurance the 'claims manager' could no longer deal with it. This meant me calling the insurer direct.
This was a much better conversation. 'TVR sir? That sounds like a special vehicle. I'll check whether it should be on our exept list.'
'Yes, it's on our exempt list so we'll need to value the car - it won't be automatically written off due to its age.'
As Glen said though, surely that's the point of a 'classic' policy.
Sorted. At the moment I have reported the incident but not yet claimed. If I can find the time on Sunday I'll get the clamshell off proper and strip the rest of the front down to assess the damage. I've got an excess to pay if I claim so I'll do some man maths regarding the repairs and may just do them.

Thanks guys.
At the moment I've just notified my insurance company. I can proceed with a claim if I wish to.
The clamshell is being held on by the light wiring and the gas struts.
I've sent photos to a local GRP specialist to get their comment and budget costs. An alloy rad is £400ish anyway so that's the excess. I'll make a judgement once I've got a budget for the clamshell repair. Then I'll decide if it's worth making a claim or not.

Quick update.
Finally got round to stripping the clamshell off earlier this evening.
Looks like there's more damage than I thought. The main chassis seems fine. The radiator frame and bonnet mounts are all borked.
Tuesday will be used to contact the insurer to discuss options.
Don't think it'll be fixed before Oulton Park in November. So the MOT in Jan is the target.
