2015 S Club Heaven
Discussion
Hi everyone
Longer term S owners may remember that the annual S Club Heaven get together used to be an event dedicated to the S Series cars, although any TVRs were welcome (I actually went to my first SCH in my old chimaera ) which was organised by a person or a group of people from this forum.
I cannot recall the full details but after the original plans for the 2012 event fell through the TVRCC Events team stepped in and made SCH part of a show they were already attending at Thoresby near Nottingham. This was a good event, repeated in 2013 when the show also included Chimfest.
This year the meet grew again at Blenheim Palace (although it didn't achieve anywhere near its full potential due to the dreadful weather) by combining SCH, Chimfest and the Sixes.
Afterwards some comments were made in the forum topic running at the time and several people spoke to or emailed me about returning to an S Series focussed event (with others more than welcome!) for SCH2015. I agreed this is a good idea but anticipated 2 problems - firstly the TVRCC may already have some plans in place for 2015 and, if they hadn't, who would be prepared to put the event together?
I have dealt with the first point - after contacting the TVRCC they let me know they are more than happy for someone from the S community to arrange SCH2015.
The second point is the reason for this topic i.e. who is going to organise it? Well, it's not going to be me because I did my bit in 2008 & 9 and I already have another busy year ahead of me but, if necessary, I am prepared to help out in a limited way in 2015.
I have a list of tasks, things to remember, etc from 08 & 09 which I can handover so you'll not be starting from scratch. Like a lot of things it might seem like a daunting task now but once you get started it isn't.
And don't worry that you'll need to do it all on your own - I am sure there will be plenty willing to assist on the day, organising parking, etc, etc...
I would prefer it if this topic didn't go down the "I think xxxxx would make a good venue" or "What we should is..." route because there have been enough of those already! If you want to get involved, now is your chance. I know there are plenty of you out there with the enthusiasm and ability
As I said above I can help if you want me to and the TVRCC will provide support.
Feel free to email me if you want to discuss before announcing in the forum
Cheers,
L'rs

...I was in favour of "piggy-backing" with Newark Kit Car & Classic Show, and would have stepped forward to be the SCH "main man" because I reckoned it had so much going for it
The first SCH I helped with (2008) was at that show Glen and it proved to be a popular venue. I can't take any credit for choosing it though, it was Barkchoc's idea! And well done for at least thinking about being the "main man".

As a suggestion; if a body were to step forward to arrange S Club 2015, would it not be a good idea to liaise with someone who is already arranging an event for one of the other TVR models and to use the same venue and suppliers? This would make the job a bit easier in as much as contacts and the venue and its capabilities will already be known.
I can see the advantages of that approach Paul, but the very reason for me starting this topic was because some people had said to me it would be good to see another S Club without the other TVR models (nothing wrong at all with the other models though, please don't you or anyone else think it's my wish to alienate or exclude other cars & people!) and I'm not sure if they were hoping I'd organise it....Oldred_V8S said:
Whatever happens, we don't want Longers getting involved, he has higher priorities to take care of. (S Eurotour)
Thanks for your concern! More details on that soon hopefully Oldred_V8S said:

Sorry I may not have made myself clear with the first point. I meant for the person, whoever it may be, to talk to the other organiser who would pass on hints and tips and contacts and to use their venue, not to piggy-back onto their event.
Ah ha! In that case... great idea Paul Sorry I may not have made myself clear with the first point. I meant for the person, whoever it may be, to talk to the other organiser who would pass on hints and tips and contacts and to use their venue, not to piggy-back onto their event.
Good news...
Someone has been in touch with me and not only have they shown an interest in helping out, they have already been in touch with the organisers of an event which ticks all of our boxes. More news will be shared as soon as possible but in the meantime if you still want to get involved remember that "many hands make light work"

just out of interest, if it is S cars only, how many could there be??
Hi Clive As said above, I think 40-50 cars is achievable. Really depends on the weather though - there were far fewer than that at Blenheim this year thanks to the continual heavy rain.
The plan isn't to exclude other models but to make this an S focussed event. Obviously other models of TVR will be more than welcome so it's hard to guess final numbers but if the local region decide to support it then 50+ is likely (overall total was 90 something cars the year I ran it at Newark with numbers being boosted by the East Mids TVRCC regional group).
