Interior Light Ideas
Discussion
Thanks for suggestion. The important factor is the depth of recess required. The new light is going to be fitted to the piece of trim which runs round the inside of the rear of the hood (& covers the top of the carpet). I don't want to have to cut a hole in the tub so whatever I go for has to be fairly slim-line.
All suggestions welcome. So ling a s they cost less than £150

True, but they're sold now. I've just looked on Ebay for "sun visor light" and there's load to choose from so that was a great tip - thanks.
I went into Halfords during the week and asked "do you have any universal interior lights". To which the reply was "nah, you'll have to go to a main dealer for that" They did in fact have some in the caravan section but far too big.

An LED strip might be worth considering.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did look at LED strips but I couldn't work out how to fit one into the hood retaining rail and make a neat job of it once it was trimmed. I've also now bought this which I'm hoping doesn't need a deep recess because it has a switch. If I can make this one fit I'll put the little one in the foot-well.Solution! This is a Jaguar interior light...
It is 130mm x 35mm. It does sit a bit higher than I wanted but it does have a concealed on/off switch. You just press the right hand section.
I'll now make a moulding to mount it to the vertical face of the hood rail and run the wires underneath this moulding and to the existing loom connection.
I could do with a 3-pin connector for the light if anyone has one but I expect that's a bit unlikely.
