I have six door handles, my S, my Taimar (same handles) and a spare pair. All are broken where the bit you pull up to open pivots on the main casting. As per the one at the bottom of the photo. The metal corrodes, the spring rusts and it all siezes up and snaps off. It can't fall out but it doesn't return properly when operated.

They are made of some sort of Zinc based metal at a guess, whatever it is it won't weld, braze or solder. So how to fix it?

I thought I'd try skinning either side with some shim steel (ok, it's a biscuit tin lid) glued on with Evo Stik Serious Glue. Next handle up in the photo is "in the rough", glued but not trimmed.

(I just pasted a link to glue, get it?)

Third one up is after 10 minutes with the Dremel and ready to fit.

Top one is finished and well doused in anti seize compound item. Lift the handle and it springs back down a treat smile

Time will tell how long the glue lasts but so long as nothing is seized there is no great strain on it.

Look like Capri Mk3 items to me, since I had two Mk3 Capris. Probably scarce as per most things, but would have thought they'd be readily available (without TVR logo)
Certainly of Ford origin, Capri, Escort, Cortina?

With the popularity of "Classic" Fords I reckon the chances of finding a pair of good chrome handles at a bargain price are slim! (and you don't get the "I fixed that" smug smile, or the even bigger "I fixed that for pence" smug smile smile )

Taimar handles didn't have the TVR logo, that's why I bought an extra pair from an S to go on it.

My theory is that when Ford moved on to a different design TVR had to have handles made for themselves, by the original manufacturer, and had the logo cast in?

P.S. Jacob's would probably have been best but I settled for Sainsbury's own brand "biscuits for cheese" wink
