Provisional Dates for S Club Barn Farm Camping
Discussion
Hello Campers!
This year's Barn Farm camping and scenic run is provisionally scheduled for the last weekend of June, when it will be swelteringly hot and we'll all be baking in our tents at night, so it's important that we all bring plenty of refreshment for after the pubs have closed.
So please mark your diaries, calendars, electronic notepads, iPads, knotted bits of string or stick a post-it note on the fridge as a reminder:
Arrive Fri 26th June 2015
Scenic run commencing 10:45am Sat 27th Jun
Wind down/ sober up/ pack up/explore area/go home: Sun 28th Jun
I am planning a new route this year, and the dates are provisional subject to local carnivals, fetes & well-dressing and/or pagan witchcraft ceremonies.
And big scout jamborees, obviously.
So pencil those dates into your devices in case some other ber pinches them for some other worthless event, and I shall update with definite certainty as soon as I am able.
I can hear those peacocks already
Full details to follow.....

Flat(ish) roads mainly centred around the White Peak & Derbyshire Dales.a
Nice vistas, some rolling hills, a few craggy bits, some twisties a few nice straights ( all with a 50mph speed limit of course ) and a nice place for a tasty nosh.
Set your tyre pressures, adjust your ride heights, check your geos, fill your tanks and watch this space.
My playground is driving Nirvana As I explained to AutoAndy last year, it's just like Norfolk, but in 3-D
Or we might all get lost again
But hopefully no spinners this year on NangKang Ditchfinders

Where Glen? Northern Territories I assume?
No Pete, we don't do upside down. And we don't drink Fosters on this gig. It's Nine Ladies or 'ESS'ington Ale at the Red Lion, Birchover, or whatever they have on as guest ales in the Druid Inn. Until they run out.
Or white wine.
The formula seems to work well, eh guys 'n' gals?
The famous bike racing circuit of Darley Dale is just down the road.
And they've got alpacas*
- I suppose you could call them Darley Llamas

It'll be nice if you & Deborah can make it Richard, even if you decide to rough it in one of the local druid hovels at night.
I hope that you understand what can happen to you both, and that you are prepared to be involved in some strange local druid pagan rituals.
Most Barn Farm Camping initiates prefer our friendly ceremonial rubber gauntlets and sink plunger to whatever unspeakable things go on behind those tightly shuttered cottage windows.
You may not be incontinent yet, but I cannot guarantee you will remain in that happy condition.
Andy & Alan can both confirm, we've seen some evidence of strange druid rites hanging from the trees down at the ancient stone circle :shudder:
At least we will all be sleeping safe and soundly in the knowledge that the peacocks will protect us in our comfy tents, warding off the attentions of the pagans.
I think the druids will have prepared sufficient potions for our weekend of merriment, but to be sure, please can you tell us what is Deborah's favourite tipple? And can she pronounce that difficult word, 'Guinness'?
Finally, please don't mention exhausts and packing, it is still rather a sore point with me

It is rumoured that one of those dates back well over 6,000 years.
We have no idea about the stones though.
( But Mick Jagger is looking as old as Keith these days. )
Well, after coming perilously close to postponement or even cancellation due to ouside beaurocratic interference by non-elected pseudo-governmental agencies, it's looking like our social weekend of innocent enjoyment of our beautiful scenic Peak District National Park can go ahead after all.
Many thanks are due to Alison at the TVRCC Office who has toiled relentlessly and jumped through many hoops on our behalf in order to obtain a "Camping & Caravanning Exemption Certificate" from a www.gov.uk sub-department called "Natural England" which will permit us once again camp it up at Barn Farm. I am hoping for confirmation today.
I just hope it's not too lastminute.com for you all to come along, but our first year at Barn Farm was arranged at very short notice after the Sheffield SCH was cancelled.
We need to fill the six pitches I have reserved, and I need to know VERY SOON who will be coming and whether you will be camping two nights or just one. Please put your names below ASAP so I can assess the viability of the camping side of the operation.
As soon as I get the confirmation and enough committed peeps, I shall post on the TVRCC S Series forum because it will henceforth be a TVRCC backed event, so I would like you to register your interest on that forum as well please when I post the topic.
All I need now is a tent ( my backup is ready ) and to put Austin back together again.
Cheers

I will be coming, on my own I think, and camping Saturday night and probably Friday night as well.
I will not however be touching the car for at least 24 hours beforehand, dont want to tempt fate again.
Richard, I thought you were booked into a nice place in Stanton Lees?I will not however be touching the car for at least 24 hours beforehand, dont want to tempt fate again.
I hope you didn't cancel it because of the lack of news of the event.

Dont worry Glen, I have cancelled the B&B because I will be on my own, which means I can 'enjoy' camping!!! If I can still find my tent etc!!
I solved this problem by stringing a load of twinkly blue solar led lights around my canvas home from home.Much easier to spot when I amble back from the pub in the dark
Just remember to avoid any twinkly blue lights that are travelling rapidly and making "Nee - nar! Nee - nar!" noises.
Although they may still provide you with somewhere to sleep for the night......
1. Glenrobbo. Camping Fri & Sat
2. Greymrj. Camping Fri? Sat
3. Magpies. Camping Fri & Sat regardless of the heat.;)
4. Alan461. Camping Fri & Sat
5. Andy Lynch poss camping Sat?
6.
Room for 1 or possibly 2 more tents, unless the exemption certificate comes through, that would allow more spaces....... At the moment I'm still waiting for it
AutoAndy, are you coming again this time?

Thanks for the heads up Mike. The roadworks should all have been completed by now, they were rebuilding collapsed retaining walls on the Glossop side of the Snake Pass. The Snake Pass Inn was still open, but only access was from the Ladybower end.
If there's any lingering problems, I have a Plan B alternative route, but it's not too kind on Chimaera front splitters
Glad to hear you're on Decent Dunlops now, instead of those Indian ice skates
It's about time you got yourself another S to join in the fun again.
You know you want to......
ETA: You've got me thinking about Kylie's gold hot pants now.....
But I'm guessing they would probably be too small .......

Yep that's fine Lawrie, it means that now there are two or three camping places left for Fri night only - unless the camping exemption certificate comes through in time, which will free up more pitches.2. Greymrj. Camping Fri? Sat
