The replacement fuel pump I obtained, Bosch 0580 254 910 ( Capri 2.8 application ) is physically too big to fit in the place of the original. 0 580 464 040

So I bought another, 0 580 464 068, supposed to be a direct replacement of the superceded original ( now discontinued ).

However, the pump inlet on this one is 12mm instead of 15mm.
Will this be up to the job?, i.e, will it allow sufficient flow rate at full throttle?

It cross-references as a direct replacement for both the Bosch original part no., and the Ford part no. 86 GB-9350-BA stamped on the original pump casing.

If ok, I have a cunning plan to step up the inlet stub pipe to suit the 5/8" i/d hose. ( NOT heater hose!)

It's chucking it down at the moment, so I shall go and look for my blowtorch and soldering flux. They are in my garage.... somewhere!

Thanks for the quick responses lads.

On the basis of the replies, I'll go ahead and fit the 068.

If it doesn't work out, at least I won't have to blame myself smile
Only kidding!

Cheers,
Glen smile

Morning Richard :-)

Yes the accumulator is fitted, and is supplied by a short pipe from the pump.

I'm installing the 068 & see if Austin likes it. I shall of course do a thorough check for leaks once up & running.
Surely there is a pressure regulator in the K-Jetronic set-up to modify the pump output?
If I have to fit the big one, it'll be a job for my friendly local TVR Tuscan racer, Ivor ( Sarbec ), because I don't have the welding facilities to go relocating mounting brackets.
Fingers crossed, time is getting short.
