TVR parts suppliers/TVR Parts Ltd
Discussion
For those of you who were not already aware, TVR Parts Ltd have been buying in other interests. The stock held by David Gerald went to TVR Parts some time ago, and the stock held by Obsolete TVR went recently. Neither now hold TVR parts.
The current problem is that most of these parts appear not to have been sorted or catalogued yet, so there is a temporary problem in getting at the parts! I am trying to get at some parts that were known to be on stock with David Gerald but are now somewhere uncatalogued within TVR Parts Ltd.
Some of us have noticed that TVR Parts Ltd website doesnt even list the S as a TVR model, which I admit I find a bit worrying. I am also a bit worried that the all important knowledge about parts for the older cars may be getting lost.
I hope I am proved unduly pessimistic
(Neil at ML Performance still has stock of some parts which remain accessible to S owners)
Some of you showed interest in a few posts I did some weeks ago about new S parts that had become available, and I was able to put a few of you in touch before a Mod withdrew the posts (the results of my protest on that one showed a Mod jumping to unjustified conclusions, and left a bad taste in my mouth!). Those were S parts that Mike at Obsolete TVR had found at my request, parts I knew people had been looking for. A couple of people got parts, hopefully the rest will eventually be listed by TVR Parts Ltd.
I have also sent TVR Parts Ltd the initial details re the rubber bumper section that is no longer available, to see if they would be prepared to commission new stock. Phillpot and I both got quotes which could be considered by TVR Parts Ltd. That is for hard rubber extrusions to exactly match the original. section.
After speaking to the TVRCC I also wrote to TVR Parts Ltd about the servo they are now offering to check compatibilities and suitability for the S. I have yet to get a reply on that one.

yes, good luck with the MOT Bill and well done for bringing one back to life. There are a few S's that have been brought back to life by PH members, very satisfying it is too!
I found the Alternative Parts List of immense help to me when I restored mine. Sadly it is now well out of date. A complete revision of that list is an option, or would an alternative format be better now? I think we ought to discuss how best to proceed and get it right. I am certainly grateful for the offers of help from people more computer savvy than me. I also think we ought to see if TVR Parts want to be involved in that discussion, I do share the cynicism but if they genuinely do want to preserve the 'heritage' TVR's then they need to know what could be held in stock for S types, and indeed what parts could most usefully be commissioned for stock. I will take on speaking to TVR Parts on this issue.
Wouldnt be a bad idea for TVR Parts to monitor the TVR PH section, they would get a fair idea of what parts issues are of greatest concern to owners.

Some of you may have noticed that TVR Parts Ltd have added and then expanded the list of S parts they now have available.
There are other encouraging signs:
The supply of targa panel sockets (the plastic inserts for the hood hoop and screen top rail) passed over from David Gerald to TVR Parts Ltd was minimal (I got 4 only!). These are needed when a hood or targa panels are refurbished and I know several trimmers were anxious to obtain some. TVR Parts Ltd have however now managed to have these remanufactured for us and they are available again.
They are £4.95 each + VAT , give Martin Slade a call on 03333 237877.
The supply of bumper insert rubber to the original specification was exhausted some time ago. TVR Car Parts have however taken information supplied to them by us and have located a supplier. It is intended to get these remanufactured as soon as other priorities will allow.
I hope they do not arrange the re-manufacturing of front indicator lenses! That would not be welcomed by those of us who have now installed an alternative or those who have stockpiled originals for theor retirement fund!
