Just bought an S2 with fabulous history, low mileage, but only average oil temperature so decided to fit mains, big ends, ARPS and oil pump.When we stripped out the mains which were standard ford originals we found that whoever assembled the engine had put a normal bearing where a thrust bearing should have been leaving only one thrust to control the crank end float might explain the wear on the big end shells. Good news is, oil pressure is now tremendous and the sump doesn't leak anymore result

the engine should only need as you say thrust on one side of the journal in this case it had neither, apologies if I didn't explain myself clearly

all I know is it's quieter now
