I recall some bonnet hinges being made up in the past on here...

....do we have a source as I may need a pair, plus an East Anglian fiberglass specialist.... frown

Oh heck Andy, that's not good, must have given you a bit of a moment!!!

Had time to see what actually failed?
...after driving through most of sunday in the rain, just 7 miles from home....accelerated away form the roundabout (not even aggressively for me) and as well as wet, I think there was a drop of that lovely diesel stuff and the back end went, and once it hit the wet grass I was just a passenger...

...all went well with beautiful pirouettes until the lamppost got involved...the next thing I know I have the ultimate wide open bonnet!!! - think the chassis is OK, and the car still runs, but will need to be checked over (I know the rad didn't like having a bonnet ripped across it)..

But I didn't get hurt thankfully...dont like rain...or diesel leaking Norfolk tractors/beat lorries....Grrr

PS: If Glen reads this, dont worry I only put the top up after it crashed...

Thank you guys...overwhelmed by the good feeling and offers of help/parts...even though it was my fault (apparently that's an insurance term).

I have a body shop recommended by Matt Smith who can quote to the insurer and hopefully repair the GRP bits and sub-contract the mechanics to him...so it should be better than before I crashed it...I hope they can put the stripes back on after repainting!

I might not need the hinges after all...I have yet to look properly in day-light, but they may be OK, just actually ripped out of the GRP

The tyres are Avons, note sure of manuf dates, but I got them in 2010 and they have 5mm tread left (a little more on the fronts wink )

And....... I'm back in the room...!

...car repaired..the bonnet has never been so good!

Had to get the tyre pressures down from 40psi to 25 and it drove much better...and had to test it...obviously

Now need some events to get to for December ....any ideas
