Hi guys..
I know some of you have fitted a Sierra 2.3 diesel 3.14 diff. Let's not get bogged down with why ! I am doing this swop too (as part of a V6 Jag conversion).
My question is about the drive shafts. I know I could ask shaft suppliers, but thought I would get better unbiased info here.
The 3.14 diff on Sierra uses long push in drive shafts, unlike the short flanged output that the 'S' normally has, which I understand are circliped inside the diff.
So, will the original short flange shaft push into the 3.14 diff ?
And will it need circlips ?
After that I guess it use an amalgum of Sierra parts to suit the 'S'.
Cheers. TerryB.

Thanks.
But I've read & re-read that info, without finding the specific details I require.
Maybe some who has done it on an 'S' will reply.

I dont want to mess with the diff internals, just the shafts. I should have mentioned that I didn't get the long push in driveshafts with my purchase of the 3.14. There is J&R driveshafts in Birmingham, not too far from me, so it might be a chat or visit with them. Anybody used them ?

Thanks for the kind offer.
I'll try to stick with the 3.14 for now.
I have found another driveshaft professional trader that's even closer to me. That being Driveshaft UK in Willenhall West Mids. So hopefully I can resolve this soon, although in reality I'm in no rush, as I'm only just heading towards finishing the chassis repairs. Then it can go to be blasted clean.
Uprating the driveshafts is an option, thanks for the reminder. But I have no intentions to put the S on the track. It will eventually become my retirement into Europe new steed.

Hi guys..
So far I have established that the 2.3 diesel 7"diff (3.14) is for push in tripod shafts (no circlips). They should be 26 spline into the diff. But I haven't counted mine yet.
I have spoken to Driveshaft UK (nice guy) who knows about shafts & joints, but not diff's. He thought it would require a hybrid shaft, & would be expensive !!
So I'm now looking at the thought that maybe one of the many sierra options lobro flanged diff end shafts (with circlips) will fit the 3.14. Or that the 3.14 crownwheel & pinion could be swopped into a 7" lobro type diff.
I continue my quest.
Damian30... Do you know how many splines your spare 3.36 lobro diff shafs have ??
As I might be interested after all, that's if they are x26 spline.
Or if anyone else has any x26 spline diff lobro ends, please let me know, even if only to loan to test.

Hi Damian...
They all have splines into the diff, don't they ? As there wouldn't be much drive without.. The spline count I ref to is if you remove the circlip & withdraw the short flanged shaft... How many splines on it ? Somehow I don't think it will be the same as a push in shaft number.….
I know the AJ30 is going to cost !
My AJ engine has only done 1500 miles with auto box, i have a brand new manual g-box & dm clutch, the engine is 2005 later variable inlet manifold type. I am trying to keep all that & use Emerald ecu, I've used them before & know electronics. But may reconsider later into the project. I have a 70mm tb with cable tps, so can convert that. Ex manifold has to be made up of course.
But I'm still on chassis work at the moment. In theory chassis should be rolling with new brakes, suspension & pas around easter. Then it goes back under the car.
I might have a break then from the S3. Need to respray prep other project !!

Hi Damian... That's the 64 thousand dollar question. Do the short flanged output shafts, from 7" or 7.5" diff's, fit into my 7" diff that would originally have had push in shafts. Mine supposedly has 26 splines in the diff. Hence my question.... How many splines do your std or 3.3 short shafts have (on the diff end).

Damian... I wouldn't mind talking to you more about the AJ conversion. Just basic stuff really. But your answers that might save going down dead ends.
I don't mind PM's or emails.... Your choice.
It would be really appreciated.

Thanks for that, I'll be in touch.
Good luck at Noble, great to go to such places.
I try to read up on new tech stuff as I need it. AJ IMT's seem to suffer from O ring failure, so make sure no air leaks before you go.
I don't have car info that engine was from, i could get it from engine number & dvla I guess. It WAS a legit buy smile
I shouldn't need much from Jag, as not using their brain..... Just mine...lol.
I'll be manning a stand at the NEC march show, if you're going.
