First dry day since picking him up from Shaun, so had a little test drive...

My son-in-law Dan says he now understands why I bought it! smile

Still haven't decided on a name for my new addition though!

Austin Version 2.0?

Looks lovely. I suppose that you will be joining the bank robbers with the extra Powers of the 2.9.....

It could be called Maurice. Then you would have Austin Maurice. Only GTS members would appreciate this comment! Or,perhaps, Herbert.
Thankyou for your suggestions Tony. I am certain it has to be a male name with the amount of grunt on tap. ( that's excluding Fatima or Tessa of course wink ).
If it had been a girl, I suppose in honour of Kate Bush, I could have christened it Marina Leylandii, but Professionally speaking, I don't think Cowley would have approved.

My Austin is familiar with the traditions of Morris, as can be seen from this clandestine August gathering:

But even though Herbert is another family name, I am still unsure if it sits well with the character of my new acquisition.
I can understand your choice of the more sophisticated gallic "Maurice" ( you surprised us all there Joe! ), I will have to drive some more to get a feel for an appropriate moniker.

Thanks for all the positive words guys, but all credit is due to Shaun for all the hard work and devotion he has put into this lovely example.

Yes, the wheels are Shadow Chrome which I think really suits the body colour of Crystal Blue.

I do not want to let Austin go yet, I still want to do a few things with him. The two cars may look similar, but are completely different in character, and I love them both.

I am really looking forward to this coming year. See you around! driving

It looks fabulous Glen. Hearty congratulations sir.

Hope it doesn't turn you into a veteran bank robber though.

My vote is for Maurice. A sophisticated and yet amusing name.

It's either that or you call it Powers ! "Yeah Baby"
Thanks Niiige!
scratchchin Will it turn me into a bank robber? Well, you only have to look at the average age of the Hatton Garden Diamond Vault fellows to see it's possible. I'm not ready to hang up my balaclava just yet wink

Austin got his name from his reg. no. suffix -ELY, with a nod to Austin-Healey, Austin Powers ( Yeah Baby! ) and is also a Robinson family name.
For my S3c have been toying with the Claudio/ 'King Power theme, but I am considering using the family name tradition and think 'Percy' would be appropriate. My grandfather was named Henry Austin Percival Robinson , but he was always affectionately called 'Percy' by his close associates and the patrons of his pub.

Percy Power: I rather like the sound of that! T.E.Percy
Traditional yet slightly risqué smile

I just hope the derivation doesn't turn out to be prophetic. I don't want to tempt fate and do a Wigglesworth/ AutoAndy. nono

And yes, I am familiar with the 1971 film starring Hywell Bennett. wink

We shall have to see what the TVRCC members think!

I'm still trying to take in Joe's 'Maurice' revelations. yikes

Is he a space cowboy?

Or is he a gangster of love?

Or is he the Joker?

Whatever, he's our own awesome Joe!

Not really a fan of giving cars names, mine are simply referred to as "the green one" and "the blue one".

Which did get me thinking if it must have a name how about "Blue Circle"........ get it ? ... wink
If he came from down south I could gave called him "Portland", but I think Percy is the one that suits him best.

Thanks everyone for you suggestions. Even the ones about naming my S3c wink
