Hi guys, dropped my OZ 8 spokes off to be powder chromed, really fancy some new domed 'TVR' centre badges which ive sourced already, now i have the original wheel centre caps & theres no way the old tatty'ish badges are going to come off those so i need some replacement centre caps..

Ive read various posts on here but none clearly state what the inside diameter should be & outside face diameter. Ive had a measure up with a dodgy tape laugh (only one in the house i could find) but I believe 52mm inside & looks like a 50mm face? Problem is i cant find such sizes on evilbay etc, so im wondering if anyone has ordered some previously & knows what size to look for exactly (links are more than welcome)

Cheers
Steve

hi i have used fiat 50mm center cap cost me £3.25+ 2.20 post the item no 271812333167 on ebay then bought stickers from same place if you find thay are not tight enough wrap some tape on inside griping fingers
Cheers might end up trying them, I recon they might be 50mm inside too if there a tad loose? Also I take it they come without the fiat badge on?

You can obtain flat stickers (and other decals) from this interestingly named website:

I can look tomorrow at a cap and give an accurate measurement of the original logo diameter.
Hi Tony, that would be great thanks, i have used isaysingdong' before got them to make up my 'S' decals, hmm so a larger badge is another option.

laugh definitely wont be paying that, yes they are M075A there such a strange size, 52mm inside & 50mm outside, theres not even any universal ones on ebay in such sizes. I dont know how well there glued on but they seem like the outer lip would get damaged trying to prize them off scratchchin

Tony your a gent! thank you, i think a 50mm badge over the top would work.. hopefully it will stick over the original domed ones ok without coming off? (or ill p40 over it first laugh)

As for the 3d resin domed TVR badges, £19.99 for the set in any colourways (finally time for me to order some)

The internal diameter of the face is a smidge over 45mm so the badge you need will have to be 45mm dia. max. You can get the old badges off by drilling a small hole in the back of the plastic (not all the way through the badge) and pushing the badge up until you can get a thin blade underneath, and then ease it off.
thank you man with the folding S roof wink & cheers Damian, i think ill give this method a go now if it fails then a 50mm badge straight over the top laugh
My oz 8 spokes are already at 'the local zoo' i removed the centre caps myself as they may have got 'misplaced' like the bits off my rocker covers did, but ive opted for a powder chrome finish in oppose to the diamond cut. Just debating on which colourway of badge to go with, silver with black logo or original black with silver hmm

laugh I've tried but its not budging one bit, ended up poking through the metal inside of face. This is one battle I'm afraid I'll have to admit defeat on

  • Update*
After failing to get the stubborn badges off my original centre caps (further damaged the already tatty badge on the one) I gave up & decided ordered some universal 52mm inside x 55mm face (couldnt find 50mm) off evilbay, size comparison the lugs etc look exactly like the originals..

Upon fitting them i found that they fitted in tight but kept bouncing back up abit which left them sitting proud about 2cm now im left in a predicament of either glueing them down flush, just sticking the 55mm badge directly over the centre hole or refitting old tatty ones frown

Also surprised when i picked up my wheels from powder coaters, they wasn't powder chrome.. but shadow chrome hmm, kind of getting used to them now i guess

Cheers, they are growing on me the more i look at them.. think i was expecting something similar to my wing mirrors but he did knock £20 off because i spotted the odd imperfection (oh & took your advice from last year & finally got those chrome nut covers! laugh)

Not sure what to do about the wheel centre situation now tho?

There are various shades of chrome powdercoat finishes that depend on the amount of silver sprayed over the black basecoat, ranging from Bright Chrome, Flash Chrome, Shadow Chrome, then Smoke Chrome to Black Chrome. It's down to the skill of the sprayer as to the uniformity of finish on each batch of wheels.

I think your Shadow Chrome wheels look great Steve. thumbup
thanks Glen, am i part of the shadow chrome fraternity now laugh
