Does the 2.8 have the same alternator bracket as the 2.9?
If so the belt is a 13v1200.
Any motor factors should be able to supply from those numbers.

You painted a belt? Really? wink
I'm not sure (awaits greymrj..)
laugh not the belt no but its that worn I can't see any codes on it barely

Cant believe it! Tim Rees did such a good job on updating the parts list, but the belt isnt listed! So, Steve, we need to find out and make sure it is added.
I am not sure they are the same. Certainly the alternator mounting and the pump differ so I would not assume they are. I cannot help you from my S1 Steve because I decided to lower the alternator so i could get the rocker box off easier, and to get a better angle on the pulleys. The result has been a shorter belt.
Take your old one to a good motor factor and they can measure it and give you a new one, but make sure you report the number!!
i did check the new list yeah, will forward the correct part details over to him when i find them out, ill bury my head further under the bonnet & try to get some sort of reading off this tired looking belt tomorrow

That will be a 10V 1175.
Measure the widest part, I bet it is 10mm (hence 10V).
Length is 1175mm.
IMHO, however, that belt is incorrect and should be a 13V 1200, same as 2.9. I suspect somebody has fitted it to get more clearance between the belt and top radiator hose (a 13V 1175 won't go on, tried it years ago) as you look to have good clearance in the pics.
Having said it is incorrect, if it fits and doesn't give problems then fit another 10V 1175 it will just be sitting a little deeper in the pulleys.

HTH,
Carl.
Nice one gents, will try eurocarparts, oh so I have the wrong one on then? What problems could it cause if you don't mind me asking?

Steve, have a look at how far your alternator is out on the adjuster slide. If it is towards the outer limit then you might find a belt 1cm shorter will be better, I did. That is before I have changed the alternator mounts. Certainly have no problem with the belt being anywhere at all near the coolant hose!
I'll check it out richard thank you, I must say its very noisy like a rustling sound not sure whether this is normal or signs the belt is very worn?
