Glass the hole and you can make it any size you want....
Too late now. I've had a decal made to match the existing layout.

I think what I need is (i) one of THESE and (ii) a lathe to make up a collar to center it in the ciggy lighter hole. (i) is easy enough, (ii) is a bit of a problem smile

Thanks Mike & Greg. That one in a lot cheaper. I'll be sorting through washers later and if that won't work maybe Greg will help with his lathe? It will be fiddly though thumbup

No lathe? No problem.....

Trial fit of a switch with the same size barrel...

I think I'll go with this one. It looks more retro and robust than the fancy one I was thinking.

Isn't there room to file a rectangular hole and have a matching rocker switch?..
Good suggestion. There is, just. The edge of the hole would just be hidden by the edge of the switch, but only just. I did think of that option but it meant no return to "original" should any future owner get precious about it.

The ciggy lighter will now be swapped for a USB outlet and tucked away somewhere.

Well, having thought about it again............

It was too good an idea not to make the effort. Stuff originality!! And the panel now has a nice symmetrical layout...

Thanks Ray thumbup

.....I suppose the next question will be "Where can I get a matching rocker switch?" ...
How about this one?

Easy enough to remove "R.Fan". I'm looking into getting some new legends printed in the correct size and font and if that comes off then one of them will be "AuxFan".
