So i guess i got abit too enthusiastic about some of the things i changed on my 'S'. Looking online at improving the dull headlights lead me down the path of HID's & Halo's, although the light output is amazing from them i do totally regret putting them on the car now as i feel its lost it late 80's charm. So im going back to the originals in the next few weeks along with a few interior bits.

Right, not sure if these are on the alternate parts list, hope this bit helps any recent 'S' owners who may have aftermarket stuff on there car that isn't to taste .. The gear knob seems to be either a 'Ford Capri' or 'Ford Sierra' type 9 5-speed. Different S's seem to have one or the other.

The handbrake grip someone might correct me here but is it a ford sierra with a 10mm button? 'Tvr-parts' actually have it in stock (or maybe not wink) so i no longer have to look at the one in mine that looks like ironmans c*** laugh

Again here i go getting carried away i tried out a different steering wheel used on the later models of TVR, the MOMO Trek-R, although i dont think it looks too bad & it feels great, i think i may just go back to one of the two spares i have an original S wheel or chimaera one.

Cheers
Steve

Looking at the two pics of your headlights I must say I do prefer the originals.

I, like yourself have purchased different "upgrades" I have a set of smoked rear lenses, clear front and side indicators to name a few.

I'm not so sure that I'll be fitting them, it was the eighties look of the S that appealed to me when I started shopping for one.
I guess with such bolt on options they are easily removed.

You stuck your neck out and tried it, fair play. I'd leave the Ali gear knob ..... personally I like them
Yeah they just stand out like a sore thumb when there turned off & lets face it it isn't all the time that were going to drive these cars at night really.

Again amber or clear are just a matter of personal choice, both suit the car imo. Quite like the different tail lights (as long as there not them blue ones laugh) Are yours the smoked rsturbo version? They look great on the 'S'. I have some clear lense versions on mine which dont look much different to the originals except for the side indicator areas.

I've not seen the clear ones before, they look good.
Mine are indeed the Rs Turbo style, the car will be a dark grey so I'm hoping the smoked lenses will suit the colour.

As you said, a lot of it is personal taste. Having owned a heavily modified Tiv in the past I'm keen to keep this one as stock as I can.
Cheers, id definitely put them on if you got them, to me they look like an extra factory option & really suit the car well.

Are you going back to black coolant-hoses as well? biggrin

Initially i only wanted the coolant hoses in green (so theres not too much green) & the ancillaries in black, maybe ill tone it down abit throughout the year or continue to blind everyone biggrin

I prefer a retro look to suit the car as I think that is part of the charm of an old school British sports car. So, the traditional style headlights look better IMHO. However, it is your car and you are within your rights to do anything which you wish.
Look forward to meeting up again. Cheers. Tony
Spot on Tony, im glad i kept the original headlights & didn't chuck them on eBay.. I'll have them back on for the next meet up.

Hi All.
Got these a bit back, the outer is a halo ring don't have a picture of them lit up. Will fit them to see what they are like, not a big job to change.

Alan

I think these are what 'DJR 7' was contemplating about using on his, they look alot more subtle than my ones, so wouldn't stand out like there from an alien spaceship but whether the light output is decent i dont know. As you said tho easy enough to changeover if not.

He won't be able to see at night either.. smile seriously the the triple black combo looks good with your interior.. not sure I could live with the gear knob but it's essentiallly the same as my old Cosworth one so probably feels ok.

laugh yeah back to the thrill seeking at night guessing what's in front of me, hopefully there abit better than the bog standard ones.. I went with wipac quad optics & some real good h4 bulbs they were a lot brighter when I tried them earlier on maybe due to new reflectors.

Thanks, yeah happy with how the interior looks now, the black seems to stand out better against the magnolia than the silver did. Yeah its a sierra gear knob I have a spare mk3 Capri one too if it ends up scuffed up, shame they weren't leather

Taimar has same old school 7" headlights fitted with Osram Nightbreaker or could be Philips Xtreme vision bulbs (forget which went in the S and which in the Taimar), was out just the other evening after dark and thought they were quite adequate.
Think i got Phillips racing vision +150% in there now, was quite impressed

I think Norman changed them on mine, it had amber indicators before at the front too. I do think the clear indicators look better on certain colours (the maroon of mine certainly, the orange seems to clash with it).

As for your interior, I changed my Sierra gearknob for an alu one which is much better, but I think I should have done the handbrake lever at the same time. I love the later "Personal" TVR wheel as found on late S's and Chims, I have the 4 spoke leather wheel which is nice enough but I don't like it much.

FWIW I think original works best on the S.

Are you going back to the original yellow connector too? wink
Yeah must be the same one on my chim, will be leaving that on, laugh ah i actually do have that yellow connector still in mine, should i get rid of it then?
