It was inevitable - the tree lined street - birds that black out the sun - wings that whump as they pass. One of these beasties has emptied it's capacious arse all over the hard roof on the S. To be fair, a magnificent effort that would make an albatross feel more than a little bit smug.

I know it's a trivial question - but you lot know so much about the care of my beloved S - that I have to ask, are they any special preperations / techniques etc ... that I should be aware of - or is it a simple soap, sponge and guanno experience ?

Oh boy - that's grim ! At least they didn't get you with the roof off !

Thanks for all the advice guys - I'm going to clean it up this weekend and then tackle waterproofing the cover with some Renovo.

Well - over the weekend - de-poo'd the roof with a sponge (all came off easily) - and then applied that Renovo stuff (that someone suggested in another thread). Seems to be pretty good - water beads up as soon as it touches it now and a slight leak problem on one side of the roof seems to be dramatically reduced which is good. Also the plastic polish for the rear window is very effective.

The only slightly tricky thing with the water proofer is that it does run somewhat so it's very easy to get it on glass or the bodywork which isn't quite what you want. Managed to get it off the glass using scrunched up newspaper and elbow grease. On the body work it can cause surface scratches to appear and look quite scary - but infact it comes off in a single wipe with just a dab of white spirit.

Thanks all for your help.
