Hi All,

If you are not aware, there are average cameras on the A40, not sure if live but this runs from Paddington to the Polish War Memorial at a pathetic speed of 40MPH.

Be aware.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... new Average speed cameras on the A40 /westway West Lond

It will soon be extended onto the A406 from Hanger Lane, all the way down to Bounds Green.

Prepare to be right royally fked by TFL, thanks a lot SIEMENS you utter S. London will be standstill soon enough and as demonstrated by the A13 it'll change nothing from a safety aspect.

Hey, if you want to speed and pay the too-stupid-to-control-your-speed tax feel free.

Of course you could always just drive at or under the speed limit and not have to pay anything extra. It's not very hard, just look at the big number in the round signs and make sure that number that little needle* on the dash points to isn't higher.

  • The one that only moved when the car is moving, not the ones that move as it gets warmer/uses fuel/you press the gas while stationary.

Simply put TFL (whose aim is public transport) should never have been put in charge of London roads. They've completely stuffed it.

Anyone knows that the A13 camera's on the way to Lakeside are a joke, it's done nothing for safety and often there are fatal accidents on the A13 in the same spot in some part of Dagenham or something.

Have they sorted that? Have they fk.

All they are doing is hell bent on setting a ridiculously slow limit and thus crippling London to a standstill.

They're currently chopping Paddington and Lancaster Gate to shreds for a cycle lane and they've done piss poor road works and it creates miles of tailbacks.

More cameras are coming, most will drive at 35 because they struggle to keep to 40, others will try to watch their speedo rather then the road and crash.

So yes, the roads are much safer and flow oh so much better. Thanks TfL and fk you.

Very few cars have a speed limiter and even if they do, some are a joke to use and otherwise most people in cars don't bother with them.

My CLK I just sold had it, so it's easy to put in 40 with the flick of a lever and lock the speed. foot to the floor it'll maintain 40, unless you hit the kickdown for an override.

I have been in a 2015 Golf hire car and no limiter exists, so instead you just watch the speedo, or bounce between 37-41-43 etc. or land a ticket.

Just like the Darford tunnel crossing that STILL has a charge, it's one massive con.

/RANT.

Average cameras are in. The limit really needs to go up to 60 however.

Cars are much better than in 1991.

Oh sorry wait, it's going down further to 20. Cough Hackney.

Hammersmith and Fulham want to do the same (blanket 20 mph)

Then complain about congestion and pollution, well when everyone is sitting in a carpark status with the engine running it's hardly surprising.

I bet if the traffic flowed better it would have an impact on traffic and therefore the emissions issue that is a big topic at present.

Cynic - yes.
