Just wondering who fancies a final run out this year before winter sets in.

The run is scheduled for Sunday 28 October

I'm not going to bother restricting numbers this time, because there is always some who can't make it anyway. Anyone welcome.

Who's up for it?

ROUTE HAS NOW BEEN MAILED TO THOSE ON THE LIST BELOW

We'll do a list, put your name, location and car on the list (so we know who is coming, location so we can plan a suitable start point and car so we can identify each other). I was thinking of the usual tried and tested method: Meet for a chat in the morning (not too early or late), a run of approx 100 - 150 miles, a break somewhere in between for some food maybe... shouldn't take up too much of your day.

Usual caveats apply. No driving like a tool. That doesn't mean progress can't be made, but as always we'll keep it safe. Boy racers need not apply.

Copy + Paste and add name to the list if interested.

1. TameRacingDriver + TS-Magnum, Newcastle, Nissan 350Z.
2. seanyD + Pax, Newcastle, Lotus Elise S
3. cslwannabe, Durham, Boxster S (or 640d depending on weather)
4. Joe and Judy, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Audi TT
5. Chrisw666, Hartlepool, Puma (tbc once date set)
6. Suprarich, Middlesbrough, tvr cerbera
7. SwampySi, Consett, Z4M
8. Graeme Durham TVR chim
9. Ol, Hexham, Formula 27 BEC
10. Supraboy, Sunderland, Mk1 MX5
11. pwduncan, South Shields, Audi RS6
12. 264ff, Unknown car or location
13. WorAl, Ponteland, Audi TT QS
14. Eldavo, 944 Turbo S

If were talking sunday mornings as usual for run outs i would be probably available on 30th sept as i dont start work til 2pm and could probably wangle a bit of a later start, I am fairly certain i would be available on 7th and 14th oct unless something major crops up, Unfortunately in these days of tory austerity I often have my days off cancelled on a whim for no payment for trivial reasons.

Oh thats as well as having my pension decimated this week, pay in more work 10 years longer, get less in return. I recon if i live a long life i will loose out over a quarter of a million quid, But thats another story!

The worst bit is than nice lump sum i was going to get at 50 to buy a special car has gone down the toilet.
Don't let the bds get you down.

Would this Sunday be too soon? I have a free weekend this weekend?

Otherwise, I'd probably have to make it the date of the Malton weekend. Any thoughts?

We'll head off around 10am, and have a short break at Carter Bar. The total is 115 miles IIRC, so I reckon 3 hours?

Just washed mine (half hearted effort but I'm no detailer, I just liker to drive the damn thing!) in preparation for tomorrow. Looking forward to this!

Well well well... where did everybody get to here then?!?! Poor effort on attendances!!

Thanks to those who did turn up, pwduncan, SeanyD + Craig and TTcool + Mrs as well, TS-Magnum as passenger and Carl (hedgetrimmer) for meeting up in the morning. The rest, hang your heads in shame!!! tongue out

OK the weather was crap, and the roads were soaking... but it was still a fun run out. Not really the right weather for the Elise though Sean? But the Audis seemed unflappable. My 350Z held out quite well, apart from it wanting to kick the arse out in a straight line at 5,000 RPM in second on the coast road, woke me up that did!

I've got a few pics if anyone wants to see but nothing that exciting...

Guess that'll be it until spring / summer next year frown

TRD.

First of all many thanks for organising such an 'interesting' route. Of course, the weather made it all the more interesting, but some of the scenery was amazing, certainly a route I will enjoy again.

I definitely had the easiest car to drive quickly today, however I'm sure that would change given dry conditions. I was behind SeanyD and he really had his hands full with the potholes and sheer quantity of water around Kielder. It didn't deter him though, he gave it a lot more than I would have.

I can imagine Joe giving the local boy-racers a shock if they take him on, he can certainly drive that TT of his! When he opened his boot and showed us what was inside, I was in shock. I love the fact he is so enthusiastic and passionate about his driving.

Your car sounded lovely. I was quite jealous and really need to see what I can do to let people know what I have under the hood.

Looking forward to the next one already, once again, many thanks.

Paul.
No probs. The scenery is so much better on a clear day. I attempted the first 15 or so miles with roof down but after that the conditions were too appalling!

The Audis must be so effortless any place or time. Yours looks a nice place to be, and I was taking corners wide whereas you had the confidence to stay in your lane. Must be nice to have a confidence inspiring car on a day like this!

I can well imagine the Elise being an utter handful today. Half the weight of my car and mid-engined twitchiness in adverse conditions; I used to drive my MR2 like a saint on a day like this.

Joe is one of a kind, I wish I had a grandad like him. He can really drive too!

Thanks for the compliment, I reckon you just need some nice loud pipes and induction kit; thats what mine has got, the 350Z is often said to be too quiet stock, some food for thought? Your car sounds lovely TBH, just not enough decibels wink

Glad you enjoyed Joe, wish everyone was as enthusiastic!

I'll organise another run some time, maybe go further south this time... Yorkshire Dales or Moors? Someone who knows these roads better could suggest a route! biggrin
