a167, central motorway and felling bypass woes
Discussion
Anyone else having major problems this week? My commute is now around half an hour longer each way.
My theory is they've fiddled with the lights on the southbound/gateshead side of the Tyne bridge, and given more priority to the secondary roads joining from the east (baltic/quays) and the west (teams/gateshead) and lesser priority to the primary north/south traffic over the Tyne bridge and felling bypass
Anyone else, before I kick off with Gateshead council.

The reply:
"The A184 has seen between 13 and 16 % peak time increase in flows since drivers diverted away from the A1 and unfortunately this is likely to continue until this major road is reopen and as the main junctions before this increase already operated at around 90 to 100% this increased loading is causing the current delays. The Traffic lights at Oakwelgate are actually operating at the same timings as they were before the recent road works so the traffic through put is not being affected by these lights. "
I don't accept this, the traffic was generally okay prior to this week, yes it's always been a bit slow because of volumes etc, but not ground to a halt like this week. Something has changed this week.
