renting in Newcastle
Discussion
Looks like I might be taking a job in the Walker area of Newcastle. Can anyone give me some pointers on which areas I should look at/avoid?
Looking to pay no more than £700 per month, unfurnished, for 2 bedrooms. Less would be better. Would prefer a house not a flat but that wouldn't be a dealbreaker. Need secure parking and a location 5-10 miles from Walker so I can cycle to work.
I know there are a few landlords on here, so if you've got something suitable please get in touch!

Does it have a garage? It would have to be really nice for me to pay that much.
On a side note, it seems to be really common for rental properties to be a bit rough and ready. I've obviously been looking on Rightmove and Zoopla and many of the pics show grubby walls, dated interiors, disgusting 70s carpets etc. Are people really willing to rent places that look like that? I'm not a snob, but if it's going to be my home I don't expect it to look like a house from an episode of Life on Mars...
