I'm heading out for a blast on January 24th as long as it isn't too snowy/foggy, route is below if anyone fancies joining in.

Meeting point The Sun Inn near Wackerfield on the A688 around 9am, leaving roughly 9.30.

The route I've posted below is the latest updated map with the correct start point. The route heads straight up to Hexham first then south west and over the Hartside pass. Back north to Brampton then the final bit south east back to the starting point along the A689 and B6277.

Alston figure of 8

I've got my MX-5 BBR Super 200, my mates who are thinking of going are in a Fiesta ST and a Clio V6. All marques will be welcome, looks like one or two people are coming along from MX5Nutz forums as well. Looks like the snow will be non-existent.

Without really knowing Barnard Castle I'm thinking the Morrison's car park about 9-9.30am as a meeting point?

Meeting point changed, see 1st post

Any idea where would be good to meet around Barnard? I don't know the town that well and just suggested it as I'd seen it passing through

The Sun Inn at Wackerfield looks perfect just on the A688

Hopefully the weather will hold out, bit of a long run but loads of fun to be had on some of my favourite roads. Quite a few interested on MX5Nutz as well along with a couple of my mates. Should be a really good day

Might be an idea to keep an eye on this thread in the week leading up and the day before the meet is to go ahead just in case the weather turns and it's called off.

B6277 from Alston to Middleton-in-Teesdale is running a lot of one lane roadworks for the next few weeks. I'll need to amend the route which is a right bugger as that's one of my favourite stretches of road anywhere.

Bit of misinformation, I was told it's going to be closed which it is at the end of March for two weeks but I've looked into it and (hopefully) isn't too bad. Looks like part is reduced to one lane due to the bad recent weather causing a landslide next to it. I've emailed Durham County Council to find out exactly where on the road it is and how long the one lane lasts. If it's only a short distance we should be OK

Just broke my phone so I need to send it for repairs, it's also my sat at so hopefully I'll have it back in time. I do have a farming as well and I can use a programme called tyre to upload routes onto it. I'm hoping I don't need to do that as its a bit of a pain to do

Definitely Sun Inn, I'll update the map properly tomorrow afternoon/evening. Meeting from nine, leave about half nine I reckon. If anyone wants my mobile number just in case running late message me for it.

He loves a good little drive out.

For those interested I've been told on MX5Nutz there is a 97 RON Sainsbury's and opposite a Tesco 99 RON petrol station in West Auckland. Looking on Google Maps it looks like its on a road called Maude Road, just the other side of Bishop Aucklands footy ground when you're on the A688. If you need 99 RON it'll be the last place you can get it.

I had a blast, the fog on the last run was a bit ridiculous though. Definitely need to do similar again
