Hi All

It looks like a new job is going to be moving me up to Leicester, by way of a weekly commute (I live in Surrey with the family). My current thinking is to rent an apartment in the centre of the city so that I can walk to work, walk to the gym, walk to restaurants/bars. I'd like to avoid the main student blocks, as I am a bit too old to join in those shenanigans these days, but I'm quite happy to do "inner city".

Can any locals share their knowledge on what the "right" parts of town are to live in, and any other tips about lifestyle choices in the area?

I have considered a small cottage outside of the city too, but I think that I want to avoid a driving commute unless it is really worth getting out of town...

Thanks oddball.

It's always good to have some inside knowledge before I start talking to agents!

Thank you!

Is the Melton Mowbray direction the area to look at for nice villages then?

I do happen to like porkies and cheese, but that's not really the point!

I am very keen to avoid having to motor in though, so it would be train or nothing if I live out of twon.
