It has been suggested by Fun Bus that a thread should be opened so that the Midlands Exciting Cars Spotted thread can stay on track.(Very good idea FB)

Organizing a date is going to be the most difficult with people working weekends or other car meetings you maybe attending that you may already have a focus on.

It must then Shirley go to the majority vote and if you or myself are unable to attend then there is always a next time.

I have put a chart up to get a general idea of who is interested and if a Saturday/Sunday is best for you. Also a date that is not suitable.

No NAME CAR SAT/SUN/EITHER DATE NOT SUITABLE
1 TVRJAS TVR Chimaera Either Sun 21st Sept
2 K321 Saab 95aero stg3 Either N/A
3 Rigga TVR Griffith 500 Either Depending on shift work
4 55palfers W124 E36 AMG Either N/A
5 Loui Mini with a difference Sunday Preference Depending on work
6
7
8
9
10

If your not sure how to fill in the box please just add your details and state your preferences in writing and I will put the information in.

The location to meet up is undecided at the moment but due to this being a locals meet then which ever is decided then it should be only a 10-15 minutes drive.

Also can I just say if I am taking the lead in kicking this meeting off there will be NO donuts/Burnouts etc or you will be redcardshootwink

EDITED

This meeting is likely to be held in the next Three/Six weeks so once we get a general idea of what date suits the majority I will then add a new chart. So there is no need to put that November/December is unsuitable.

My opinion only but i think Day time opposed to Night would be better.

Complicated availability but while the early evenings are still light they may work or weekends, when a decision on dates is made I would be interested. TVR S2 needs some more miles on the clock. !
At this stage I thought we might just get an idea of the numbers who are interested and if one particular weekend looks occupied then we can discount it.Let this opening thread run for a few weeks to see which is more suitable a Sat or Sun was my thinking.

If you think this is a bit complicated or going the wrong way about it then do you think just picking a weekend now would be a better idea? Or any suggestions from others and I can then adjust the chart.

I didn't want to come across selfish and just pick a date that is best for me smile But you are correct it is complicated and is giving to many options so I will take the bull by the horns and open a new chart with dates of Saturday October 11th or Sunday October 12th as the only options.

The 26th of September will be the dead line,a simple count up of the majority Sat V Sun which gives Two weeks to Opt in or out. How does that sound ?

Regards Jas

Hello Mike,

Misunderstanding or not when looking at it.... It's complicated laugh

It does need to be narrowed down so unless someone comes along and suggests otherwise I will amend the chart tomorrow.

Shelsley was really good, some lovely cars from old to new and a good turn out from the previous I hear as the weather was perfect (It rained at the last one)

I would be ignorant at saying the TVR's were the best cars there, but we were there in numbers think Glen missed a few on his pictures posted so a great turn out and will go again for sure.

Catch up with you soon Mike all being well thumbup don't think we have ever met yet?

UPDATE

Just to let you know I have not overlooked or forgotten about amending the chart.

I was giving it a few days to see if the dates of October 11th/12th were frowned upon.

This evening I will update the chart,so for those who have already added a comment I will need you to reconfirm.

I have seen one suggestion of a time of 11am which to me sounds a good time for those that like to have a few drinks the night before.

As for the location I think we need a place where we can park without problems and coffee to be available and will leave the location to the suggestions of others.

My thinking was that after coffee and a chat we could take a drive out maybe via Meriden/Leamington/Warwick/Stratford and a stop at a nice pub on the river with good car park(We have many) so again suggestions please.

Good luck to you with organizing this Jason, personally I would just set a date/time/place.

If folk can make it that's good, if they can't that's too bad. Fannying around "who can do what and when" will just go round in circles (imho) wink

Anything from the first weekend end of October and I'll do my best to turn up smile
I never said anything about me organizing it Mike... I simply made the thread and put a chart up to get the ball rollingsmile

Right then just before I make a new chart we have two names on here that the weekend of 11-12th is not suitable. So how about I set it back a week 18-19th,Rigga,Polariz could you make that weekend?

As Phillpot as mentioned we could go round and round in circles but as we have two on list that it does not suit then lets offer another date.

I won't adjust any chart until I hear some feedback, but a new option date of 18-19th with an 11.am start.

It does look a bit of a mess at the moment but be assured there will be a set date and time put up in the very near future and if you can't make this one then we can always look at doing another one.

Please keep an eye on this thread for future UPDATE

As promised I have altered the chart and have changed the dates to 18th or 19th OCTOBER.

We have had response from one of the two people that the weekend of 11/12th was not suitable and from what I see no one has come forward that the new date is not suitable.

It has been mentioned also to bring the time forward to 9.am,so again I have added two times and go on the majority verdict with a closing date of the 1ST OCTOBER.(This closing date is when the event is to be held, others may join after the date is set).

A suggestion of COSTA has been given and backed for the location meeting point so if we all agree on this then Costa it is.

For those that already confirmed on the old list can you please confirm again.
If your not sure how to fill in the box please just add your details and state your preferences in writing and I will put the information in.

Looking forward to seeing some of Shirley/Solihull's finest cars or maybe it's just your pleasure.

Kind regards Jas

Hey Jas

Good working getting this going, looks like there is a handful interested which TBH is good enough for us to meet, chat & drink coffee. Hopefully going forward once a few of us have met which can do it more informally and with less planning.

Hopefully we'll get a few others join, I think it really depends how many dip in to the forums and spot this thread - there's definitely enough of us about.
Hi Ian,

Thx for the acknowledgment and congratulations for filling the chart in with success biggrin

Plenty of time for more to join, but so far it looks like we have enough interest for the go ahead.

There could be many locals that don't even know this "Midlands Exciting cars" thread exists,I was a member maybe 7-8 months till I stumbled on it,and also a local TVR member gmw9666 who now posts was not aware of it.

I think if it stays on the small side then this benefits us when going out for a drive,20-30 assorted cars would be pretty difficult to keep together(Big is not always best)

PS
Is this Costa drive through that's been nominated at Friars Gate? And if so can anyone confirm it's open. I did a google search and all I'm getting is planning applications talk, but can see a picture with tables outside so presume it has opened.

Sunday vote here, or Sat in that dead time between afternoon and evening.

When is this being 'ink'd for definite?
Morning Matt,

If you go back to page TWO forth entry of mine down all is explained.

1st October I will compare the list and go with the majority vote,at the moment it's looking like Sunday is working best for most and the time of 9.am or 11am looks undecided.

I will enter you as Sunday and if you nominate a preference of time this could be a deal breaker.. So do you have preference?

Also Matt what car would you like me to enter as it looks like you have a few nice cars listed on profile.

It says on the first page this is a 'locals' meet, but I'll be getting my car back after 5 weeks in the garage soon so was thinking of heading over from nottingham to give her a run out, meet fellow enthusiasts and check out a nice varied selection of motors on the list so far!

Always checking the midlands page but not a lot goes on at the moment around these parts it seems!

If this is ok, put me down. Sunday, pref 11am. Car= e46 M3

The 1st October deadline for setting of the date is here.

The verdict from the chart is

Sunday 19th is favorite and with 5 votes for 11am against 3 votes for 9am means it will be an 11am meet

I shall start a new thread tomorrow with the official date stated in the topic along with another chart for the confirmed numbers.

I will add a link to this thread so you can be easily directed.

I hope that this meets with your approval and sorry for those that were keen on a 9am meeting time and hope this does not discourage you from taking part.

For those that are interested in joining me for a little drive out after the coffee and a chat then I will post some details later but on the theme of.....

A convoy drive will consist a duration time of about 1hr 30 mins passing through Knowle,Kenilworth,Leamington Spa,Warwick,Stratford Upon-Avon,Wotton Wawen and Henley in-arden. Then head towards the Crabmill Preston Bagot for toilet and refreshments and more bonding.

Hey Jas, well done for pulling this together. I'm hoping to go to the PH Sunday service at Silverstone now but I'll keep an eye on this.

Called in to Costa earlier for ya - they open at 6am(!) On Sunday (though this may be changing to 7am shortly) and they have a decent size car park so it should be a good meeting point. I also mentioned what you have planned and the Costa staff were quite up for this! I promised good metal so you need to deliver ;0)

Hopefully this will be semi regular and I can join you guys sometime
Hello Ian,

Thanks very much for checking out the availability of Costa thumbup

If your Sunday service event doesn't work out then please don't forget us and come along to our little event.

Many thanks for your research on Costa......Regards Jas
