Ladies & Gentlemen shout

I am proposing Sunday 14th October for the next SWPH Meet. It will be a breakfast meet with a drive incorporated and a breakfast venue half way along.

Start point will be EXETER SERVICES at 08.45 for 09.00 departure.
I have planned a route where we can have Breakfast at the venue at approx 10.00

The venue is the NEW ROUTE A303 American Diner located near Yarcombe EX14 9ND - newly opened with plenty of parking and any combination of breakfast you can think of. (It used to be the old Newcott Chef)

After breakfast there are a couple of options for a route back, with an estimated time back at Exeter of 12.00 midday.

If anyone needs timings changing then let me know. Please sign up on the list below....

.......See You There woohoodrivingwoohoo

with exeter being the start point i am surprised uptake has not been faster. it is just as quick to get there from bristol as from where i am and along the south coast isnt far either.
I was trying to spread out the meetings to cover as many areas as possible. Next one in November will probably be in Cornwall.

Be great to see you in the new shiny Boxster - a proper UK welcome for you with a cooked breakfast, some fast cars and a BMW Z4 (private joke for John)

I thought I should put my name down for this drive, also ive not been on a "Giles" drive, yet !! Ive been quite busy recently making several "Upgrades" on my MX5. Im looking forward to testing them out !!!
I was thinking of you today steve ! how weird is that. I was out with some mates on quad bikes and we went through Bovey to Newton then Totnes and the Asda reminded me of your meet point. Anyway its about time you came along for breakfast, a real mix of cars too so i usually create some maps etc.
see you soon

I see a serious mis judgement in your planning.
Youre going so close, yet not driving the Chard to Crewkerne stretch of the A30..?
Best bit of road in the county, without doubt.
biggrin
Who said what the plans were ?
"After breakfast there are a couple of options for a route back,"

I dont publish any routes until we meet up, for 'safety' reasons

On another note, i no longer have to work on the 14th, so i can drag the new Benbay001-mobile around, and possibly keep up! Maybe more! biggrinbiggrin
So Ben - What are the minor issues you have with the car ? I may be able to help.

Theres a gearbox place in Bristol that does a megaflush, which flushes the transfer box as well as the sump and gets it all out - do a search on the jaguar forum and it will pop up.
The box is a mercedes box and sealed for life, however most enthusiasts dont beleive its good to let them go over 60-70k without changing.

Its a precaution

The 4.2 uses a ZF box, but yes, also "sealed for life" but recommended oil change at 60k
Ive just emailed them. Youre a useful guy to know!
Your XKR's exhaust wasnt standard, was it? Who did you use?
Thanks!
It was self created. It was a stainless Borla 3 box system to start with (original has 5 boxes) I then removed the back two boxes so I only had a 1 box system, still passed MOT and sounded fabulous.
I would recommend you ditch the rear boxes first and get straight pipes, then if you want more, look at removing the mid boxes if you have them

I still cannot believe you sold that car!

Sounded cloud9
+1 Sounded fantastic, but was oft a fabulous sounding, comfy, road block, unlike the training shoe, which I've yet to get close enough too, to listen to. wink
Yes unfortunately it was quick and sounded great, but it handled like a tank on sofa springs, it was just too heavy..... Jaguar tried to remedy this by making it rust regularly, but it didnt help !

The evo is in another league of handling, especially in the wet, but doesnt sound so great....just pops and bangs !!!! laugh

I havnt really done anything enthusiastic yet with my R, all i can tell you is that the steering is feel less compared to the Focus, hopefully its the tyres, which are being changed monday.
Ben -I thought you were self employed for your artist ? In which case who is making you work ? come on and bring the beast out for a run. You'd be back home by lunch, and it is a Sunday !
