This magnificent & iconic aircraft is doing a 3 hour flight this Saturday afternoon, weather permitting, & she will be doing fly-by's (not displays) at various, important to her sites, around England & Wales, which includes Staverton, Filton, Cardiff Airport & RAF St Athan.
She will be leaving her home base at Doncaster at approx 3pm on Saturday taking in Coventry & Birmingham Airports before heading to Staverton etc.
Whilst not a display anyone who hasn't seen, or heard, this wonderful aircraft should make sure they see her on Saturday afternoon.
Full details can be found on the Vulcan To The Skies website.
She will not disappoint I can assure you of that. It might be one of the last opportunities to see her in the air so if you can go see her.

I have seen 558 twice this year - at RIAT.
I had never seen her fly before the Friday at RIAT. What an aircraft. what a noise.
A Citation? I know a 7 year old who would love to have a look around that - not to mention a certain 53 year old who is 54 on Saturday....
Anyway. 558 flying over my home city on a Saturday afternoon, on my birthday. Can't wait.

No times confirmed yet. I'm guessing 4pm ish @ Staverton with a 10 minute hop down the M5 to Filton. Update will be made on Friday afternoon with times to be confirmed on Saturday morning.
However if the weather is bad she probably won't fly as due to CAA regs she has to fly 'visual flight' which is below cloud base so if the cloud is too low she won't fly.

Being (ever so slightly!) older than HF, I managed to enjoy many "Flowerdown Fairs" at RAF Locking (I grew up in Locking village) - all this back in the day when we didn't have the namby-pamby rules about not flying over the crowd line.
My favourite aircraft to see at displays, ever - I agree with the sentiments above - if you haven't seen this magnificent machine in the air, make every effort to do so.
Namby pamby rules - who recalls a certain, sadly now long gone, former Red Arrows pilot who flew a Spitfire along the start finish straight at Goodwood a few years ago at less than 50 foot off the ground? The same pilot who also took great delight in flying his Red Arrow Folland Knat at 30 feet just because he could!Being (ever so slightly!) older than HF, I managed to enjoy many "Flowerdown Fairs" at RAF Locking (I grew up in Locking village) - all this back in the day when we didn't have the namby-pamby rules about not flying over the crowd line.

These amazing feats of flying are viewable on YouTube.
Ray Hannah. Genius.
As for 558 - i just hope that the rain stops before Saturday as if it doesnt she will not be able to fly due to the VFR rules she has to abide.
More namby pambyism.
Grrrrrrrrr.
She is due over Staveron at approx 4pm so I guess Filton will be around 4.30pm. Don't know though how many fly-by's she is doing at each point on the route - will it be just one or maybe two or three?
Who knows? Who cares though as just to see this beautiful aircraft flying will make my birthday, which is tomorrow, very special indeed.
SWMBO still doesnt understand the fuss about 558. She says, & I quote, 'it's just an old aircraft......'
Not sure how to convince her otherwise although if she sees 558 tomorrow she might change her mind.
