It is out anniversary this weekend, and we're off to Bristol for some Goth Rock on Friday at the Anson Rooms followed by a wine fair from 11-2 on Sat(!).

The intention is then to go back to the hotel for a rest and a swim, but the reality will be staring into shop windows and sitting in coffee bars.

Having looked for somewhere to eat online, they all seem to be either chains (which I try to avoid) or fast food joints. The best chain type place seems to be Loch Fyne.

Can anyone suggest a good independant central restaurant for early evening on Sat, up to about £40-£50/head?

Thanks - I actually had a thought afterwards (a bit rash, I know) and searched for "Bristol Independent restaurants" which gave me quite a few hits.

Steak of the Art popped up, and also Bordeaux Quay, Tobacco Factory, and The Rummer. Any experience of any of these?

Budget heading slowly north... scratchchin
Having had the GS with Carrs for the second week running, and new tyres the week before that, and new discs, pads, AND calipers on the rear of the MR2 last week too, I've given up on budgeting frown
