where to go for an engine remap?

can anyone recommend a decent place to go to get my 2003 octavia vrs remapped?
i am living just outside Exeter but working in plymouth and im happy to travel for somewhere with a good recommendation.
the car only cost 1500 quid and is just about to clock 140,000 miles so i would rather not spend more than 300 quid with the big name guys, likewise it is my only car and i dont want to blow it up with a 20 quid ebay 'chip'.
a brief google shows shows radical remaps in exminster or PAS performance in exeter both around £200.
any thoughts or ideas?
