Just had email from Haynes Motor Museum. Goodwood Breakfast Club style meet.

Haynes Breakfast Club

Sunday 1st Feb 2015 - Sunday 1st Feb 2015
Venue: Haynes International Motor Museum

Calling all motoring enthusiasts! On the first Sunday of each month we are running a breakfast club open to all marques. As well as meeting other vehicle owners, participants can chat over a coffee and a hearty breakfast (from a full English to a bacon roll) in Café 750. The new very popular Museum café will be open from 9am. So please do come and join us for a likeminded get together.

The 1st February breakfast, our first Haynes Breakfast Club get together, is deliberately a low key affair to introduce what is sure to be a hugely popular monthly event. Café 750 will be open from 9am serving our full breakfast menu and Museum Curator, Matt Piper is looking forward to welcoming you.

These events are free to attend and are a real opportunity for vehicle owners to show off their cars at the front of the prestigious Museum. This is the first time we have ran an event like this and we hope that you will join us for many Sundays to come.

For the second breakfast club on the 1st March and future breakfast events:

· Three Curator’s Choice VIP exclusive parking / show spaces on Haynes Green, the prime location immediately in front of Café 750; to register for one of these limited spaces please contact us via email marketing@haynesmotormuseum.co.uk stating your vehicle details attaching a current image. Closing date for entries Friday 13th February. Matt Piper, Museum Curator will select the three vehicles with the aim of always representing a broad spectrum of marques. The successful vehicle owners will be contacted one week before the event to arrange access to the elite spaces. We will also email all other entries to inform them of the results at this stage but of course we look forward to welcoming all marques to the club with equally open arms.

Future dates:
1st March
5th April
3rd May
7th June
5th July
2nd August
6th September
4th October
1st November
6th December

You just park in the front car park OR (usually) the 'track', best to try and arrive by 9.

Looks like a nice morning. Going to head over asap.

Just in case anyone is interested there is a autojumble / car show about 10 miles from Haynes @ the Shepton Mallet showground.
http://www.bathandwestshowground.com/events/the-fo...
On the day entry £10 but just £5 for the driver of a classic / interesting car. (Just follow signs for the Classic Car Park)
So you can 'do' Haynes & then drive home via the autojumble / car show.
I went yesterday. As an autojumble it's pretty small - at least compared to Beaulieu - but if you are looking for that elusive bit? The Classic Car Park was excellent.

Is the behind the scenes tour still going on? Can't see anything on Haynes site about it...
There is nothing on the website but I do have the flyer with me.

In addition to the info I posted earlier it simply says Restoration Open Morning, Sunday 4th December and gives the website address & a phone number 01963 442790

I'd like to have a look but I'll probably not bother - looks like it's going to be dry but with temperatures around freezing......

Hope you enjoy it if it's on.

On a nice sunny summers day the main car park is full by 8 8.30 & the 'track' by 9.30.
Cars are leaving from around 9.30 - the event is usually pretty much 'over' by 11.00

It's about an hour from Sidmouth (A303) so if you can leave by 8 you'd be fine, much later & you might well miss some of the more interesting stuff. You could of course make more of a day of it by having a look around the museum proper.

Be aware: a few people have been 'done' on way to or from Haynes so watch your speed..........(particularly if you are running 'late')........ you have been warned!

Weather looks ok, tomorrow.
Might HBC then pop over to Shepton Mallet for Restoration Show, I think it's half price entry (£5) for 'classic cars'

Just to bump this for Sunday (1st July 2018) https://www.haynesmotormuseum.com/whats-on/event/t...

The regular, 1st Sunday of the month, breakfast club is being held with a special event celebrating Italian style

https://www.haynesmotormuseum.com/events/celebrati...
From where I quote:
"Do you own an Italian vehicle? We are calling all owners of cars to come to the Museum from Wednesday 27th June to Sunday 8th July to help us celebrate these amazing Italian marques. As well as inviting owners and enthusiasts we are also getting our cars out of the Museum exhibits so you can get up close and ask questions about the vehicles on display in the Millennium Hall.
The celebrating does not stop there we will also have specific displays in the Museum Shop and Café 750 will have a special Italian menu which includes a light bite of Antipasti Platter, a main meal of Lasagne with garlic bread and mixed salad or Chicken Parmigiana with roasted herb potatoes and mixed salad, and dessert of Homemade Tiramisu. If that cannot tempt you then an afternoon tea with a Lemon and Olive Oil Cake. Click here to see a full menu available over the period.
Do come along and learn more about this most glamorous - and romantic - of subjects.
There will be informal daily talks* at 11.15 with the Museum Curator Matt Piper and at 14.15 with Museum Volunteers in the new display area.
“Rightly or wrongly, over the years car producing nations have tended to earn certain reputations when it comes to their automotive products: America - big and thirsty, Great Britain - sporty and traditional, France - quirky and complex and Germany - solid and reliable.
And Italy? Style of course, and lots of it. If names such as Pininfarina, Bertone, Zagato, Michelotti, Giugiaro and Vignale are not familiar to you, the shapes they have designed will be: Triumph, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Volkswagen, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Austin and Volvo have all had car bodies designed by Italians.
What helps, of course, is that such beautiful bodies have adorned some of the most desirable, fast and expensive motorcars in history many of which we are proud to have in our collection.”
  • The talks will only run until 30th June.
End quote

That was VERY busy considering other shows that are on today! smile
I was there quite early the front car park was pretty much full by 8.30.
The trio of classic Minis (including the twini-mini) had gone by 9. Off to another show somewhere I overheard.
I left by 9.45.

It's a great event although (personal taste) not enough classics/older cars. (nice Model T, today mind).

Glad they've sorted out the catering with the tea/coffee 'caravan' in addition to the cafe. It could take half an hour to be served on busy days.
Hope they may a great profit because it's the refreshment sales thats subsidising our 'free event'.
