Is anyone interested in a meet-drive around Exmoor?

I was thinking of around 200 miles of driving with a stop for a pub lunch or fish and chips or both I guess.

Depending on where most people are coming from we could start on the outskirts of taunton before heading onto Exmoor or we could start in Devon and head onto Exmoor.

Hi Ian, are you on the FB group Giles set up? May get more responses from that.

I may be up for it, the 996 needs brakes I think (light came on twice but stayed off when ignition turned off & back on so who knows?!).
I put a post up on the facebook page yesterday.

3 hours in the cup and my ears are still ringing!

Live in Taunton and a month and half into a new car and still less than 500 miles so any excuse to put some miles on it.

If its wet ill bring the wifes Golf R as Race Maxx on my car are not the best in the wet.
Give me a shout if you want a drive round exmoor i'm not that far from you.

Cool cheers

No sadly not as got some friends over sat night and will be a late one with lots of alcohol so balls to getting up early.

Always up for a hoon.

Where you based I am just outside of Milveron and assuming the wife doesn't have work on and can have the kids up for a drive most weekends in the summer.
I'm out lydeard way.

Your best way onto exmoor is head to wiveliscombe onto the b3227 then a396 which takes you right across exmoor ro dunster
or head to dulverton then onto the b3223 all the way to watersmeet which is the route i took.

Also look out for the haynes museum breakfast clubs ( 1st sunday of the month) there worth going to as you get a wide array of cars turning up.

I spent four days around Ilfracombe last weekend, and we arrived by driving through Exmoor.

All I can say, is that I am extremely envious of your local roads.

Good condition, mostly, with some lovely sweeping to tight turns in great countryside.

Wish I lived down that way as I would be right up for a hoon.
Dulverton lets it down, too busy and that really narrow climb out of it is a pain in the ass, especially if the hunts on.

I'd be up for this depending on date. Money is too tight to humour it at the moment but I used to live on the edge of Exmoor so gagging to get back out there in the 944.
Would a June date be too soon ?

get something concrete on a specific date or the thread will wither and die
I see the evo club is up there 26th june so probably best to avoid that day or maybe we could fill the hills with interesting cars?

Do people want to meet up in taunton or meet up in a pub on exmooor have lunch then go for a drive?

Do people want to have a look around lynmouth or dunster or just drive?

By lunchtime there are too many grockles trundling along at 20-40mph. A breakfast run will give you clearer roads (subject to the sheep and ponies) then you can retire to the pub for lunch.

Make sure you include the A396 south out of Dunster, one of Tiff Neddell's top 10 UK roads
Grockles?

Were not going down to Cornwall.

Not in june.

To get a table for lunch i need numbers slightly earlier than 6 days before the event.

I was thinking of maybe tying it in with the next haynes museum breakfast club - july 3rd or august 7th

So all meet at haynes museum ( yeovil) have breakfast then 10-11ish head towards taunton then up onto Exmoor for lunch , then end up on a361 around south molton.
