Business 'n' Beer Group
Discussion
A variety of projects were discussed each month. The driving force behind the Thames Valley version was Hewlett who is brimming with energy and ideas and could be relied upon to have some crazy plan each month.
He wanted to do the meetings to keep him focused, reporting back each month on what progress he'd made. He's done well too, pushing a new project along and he's starting to get some media attention for it now.
I pitched in with updates on what I'm up to, kicking around ideas on Tedvertiser (as was) and how to market it etc.
Other attendees included chaps with established businesses looking for some fresh thinking on challenges they were having or people in regular jobs who needed some support to make the leap into self employment.
Personally I just enjoy talking shop and finding a few people on the same wavelength to kick around ideas with.

Oh... and we get to talk about cars too
Perhaps in the first instance, we should just see who's interested, what area of business they are in or want to be in and where people are.
Please add yourselves in and let's see if we've got sufficient people in the right place:

Ok, looks like it might be taking shape. Let's see who else shows up on the thread this week and then I'll arrange the first meet.
I'll be honest, I'll be looking to do this somewhere local to me as I can then guarantee an attendance of at least one each week . There are another couple of chaps I know around Nailsworth who might well be up for it too.
There's certainly no issue with the variety of businesses being discussed - it's good to hear about the real world for those of us who just do online stuff I can see there are probably three or four of us dabbling in similar online activities too.

Right, I've found another local who's up for this and I think I might know another.
In the tradition of these things, I suggest meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. As for venue let's try www.thehalfwayhousebox.co.uk on Minchinhampton Common.
The format is simply sup a beer and a round robin where we detail who we are, what we're up to and what challenges we're facing in business (or starting a business). Once we've got to know each other and what's going on, it all starts to flow more easily and go off on interesting tangents. Or we just talk about cars
If you want to attend the first one (and can make it on a regular basis), please sign up below.

I'm in, with certain reservations - it's a 180 mile round trip! Not sure what benefit my business would get from it. If it was more Bristol/North Somerset it would be much more appealing.
Sorry, forgot:

Perhaps set up another one for those further south? Based on previous experience - and without wishing to undermine the merit of these type of meets - I don't think you'd get anything so tangible that you could justify driving 90 miles for it!Sorry, forgot:

Not too sure what to expect tomorrow, but I'll be there.
Nor me We'll see what unfolds. There's a decent sized car park round the back, but beware that the entrance is a bit steep and might cause anything low a few problems. Plenty of parking along the road outside too though.
