Guys - appreciate some input here?

As per title - group of us 3 x TVRs and Ferrari 360 crossing on August 5th - all from Hampshire.
Two of us starting from Southampton.

Has anyone approached the Folkestone terminal via Hastings, Hythe/Romney roads, and if so have you any tips/advice?

Just want to avoid the M20/M2 situation.

OK, our crossing is Wednesday at 1620 - thought we'd be smart and have an easy drive (ha-ha) in the middle of the day, then an hour to our 1st hotel in France once we'd de-trained.

I'm not returning via tunnel but the other 3 cars are.

I was hoping perhaps some locals in Hythe/Rye/Romney area might give me a feel for the traffic - say - midday Wednesday through those towns?

Put your planned route into google maps at that time of day and see what's reported as the traffic delay. Not 100% accurate but it's a start.

Cheers! - pretty much what we thought of doing.

It's the old "lets try this way" thing, and discovering that the main route might be slower, but is moving, whereas the alternative is overwhelmed because 1000's of others are trying the same thing.
