Whilst on a 'circuit' on Saturday I was surprised to see on the A32 not one but 4/5 marked up Volvo estates at the side of the road from the a32/a272 junction south down to Warnford where there was one of the 'plain' Octavia VRS's laid up in a side road. The cars must represent the whole of south Hampshire's on duty traffic division at a weekend, a lot of effort I hope it was worth it. To be fair they were in the 30/40 limited zones so no issue to me, anyone get a tug, I noted them around 1600 in the afternoon.

Moral never publish a route, true date or time on PH and unless you know the all peeps asking for directions in advance agree to tell them at the start. Perhaps Saturday was based on mis-information, if that happens too often then they won't be able to justify the resources in the future wink.

trust me, the police dont have time to search websites for routes for car meets. Even if they do, they wouldnt have the resources to sit around and wait, on the off chance they get a £60 speeder. Eastern Hampshire traffic department which covers from Eastleigh to Portsmouth and up to Bordon has 5 officers on duty at max strength, and most cars get double crewed so about 2-3 cars out and about. Then take into account illnesses and days off etc. They then have to deal with all the serious crashes and idiots with no insurance etc. Doesnt leave much time for searching websites and planning ambushes really.

The A32 is often busy with police on a Sunday because of th amount off bikers that decide to kill themselves there.

Thats why we dont mind posting routes for meets!
I understand all of that and see the 'plain' pan european's 'mixing it' with the bikers in summer most weekends, if only with the education wagon at the cafe. It's just I was very very surprised to see 4 battenbergs laid up with one on the move northwards and one of the Octavias 2 up parked up at Warnford, all of the cars were within 4 miles of each other confused.
